Considering all the times Jake put his hands on her I thought she'd be rooting for Robinson.

It was a what-goes-around-comes-around from the ‘He ain’t pretty no more’ beating Jake put on Tony Janiro after Vikki said Janiro was a good-looking kid.

Tony Janiro was born February 2 1926. My grandfather was born February 2 1935. What are the odds??

Your granddad would have given Jake fits.

The odds of more than one person being born on a 2nd of February?
    At least a million-to-one.

I sat next to Vicki LaMotta and her date Bert Sugar at the Marvin Hagler vs Mustafa Hamsho fight at Madison Square Garden in 1984. My father-in-law had gotten the tickets through Ballys.
She was having her moment of fame after the Raging Bull movie had been such a big hit and was in her 50s but still a beauty. Burt was telling me about a book he was working on. Hamsho a pretty good fighter was beaten badly in that their rematch.

Good work from Sugar Ray. I'm surprised he didn't damage his hands, banging on LaMotta like that.

Ref showed good heart. I don't think LaMotta contested that stoppage.

Had to be. Even throwing body shots can hurt your hands/wrist.

Haha, this reminds me of Tex Cobb telling the story of Larry coming to his room after the fight and showing Randall how swollen up his hands were — Tex was like ‘cry me a river.’
