Villa-Navarette

I agree, Navarette is finally fighting someone his own size, and still looked drained and had to strip to make weight. Villa's skillset is sublime, and he's yet to fight a slick truly skilled boxer. So without the size advantage for this definition of a weight bully coupled with an opponent who won't be presenting him with a readily available target, he's not going to look good at all. I think VIlla will dominate the majority of this match. Although I still worry that Top Rank and their ridiculously lopsided pro-A-side cards won't be favorable to him at all.

 

Yeah, it's totally asinine, there's no such thing as guys who can easily make 175, draining themselves down to near death to get to 154, then rehydrating to 170 overnight so they can smash the bits out of the far smaller fighter. Fake news. Never happens.

 

So, you don't think it's unfair for someone who can't make the weight unless he drains himself to the point of almost losing consciousness, sometimes looking literally moribund on the scales, just to have an advantage over an opponent? I mean, wouldn't it be much easier for them to fight in a division they can make weight in easily, without nearly killing themselves? There's physical advantages, and then there's literally forcibly shoehorning yourself into a division you shouldn't be fighting in because you're too scared to fight guys your own size.

 

Of course there's no laws stating that, but it does look bad, and fighters who are clearly doing everything in power to have some kind of an edge over their opponents, it's kind of a ***** move. Not saying they should outlaw it, but when it's clearly the case, there's nothing wrong with fans pointing it out and attempting to guilt they guy into a division that's more suitable for him.

 

I guess I'll go with this but I think Villa might get home while dumping rounds.
