Did anyone see him on "On Freddie Roach"? Man has this dude fallen off. Its sad to see boxers go broke. Stops Tszyu and now look at him
yeah, and on top of that, he was dismissed from wildcard for smacking a 14 year old female fighter's ass. the girl's mom threatened to sue wildcard and phillips had to go. in the show you can hear him saying it was a sportsmanlike smack, but get real man, in no way is that acceptable.
yeah, you could tell that was total B.S. Then at the end of it you can here him say that he needs to go find a place to stay tonight
And people back in the day used to say Money was "ducking" him?! Vince is trying to find a hot and cot meanwhile Money is chillin' in the big boy mansion. LMAO.
I'm sure that before Hatton went into the stratosphere,he said Phillips was the hardest puncher he faced. It's always sad when this happens, but alas it's far from a rare occurance.
If Floyd gambles on the regular like he tries to imply on twitter, he'll be looking for the same thing when his career is over.
Wife was watching glee tonight and they were singing I believe I can fly by r Kelly. Told her that I think of Vince Phillips entering the ring vs. Tszyu everytime I hear the song. Yes, he was a recovering crackhead going into that fight. Great victory, though. RJJ called p-cola the "city of champions" after that fight as he, Vince, and gainer all hailed from there. Didn't see the roach show, but cool will always have a place in my memory as a great underdog story. Beat Micky ward too in southie.
ya saw that....pretty sad i thought it was funny that when they showed some of the guys walking into the gym....i forget which one it was...either pac or khan....but you could see a sign on one of the benches/desks in there that said "michael koncz fan club meeting"....i thought that was pretty funny....somebody has some fun in there
Sad indeed. I'm sure Phillips meant to slap the 14 yearold on the ass. Though when you did crack and got cracked most of your life, I would think your brain activity might get a little cloudy at times. So I'm sure his better judgement is a bit impaired. Hopefully he is able to find a job working in another boxing gym.
Yup saw that. Surprised he kept talking with talking with the camera rolling. I doubt it was just a sportsman tap.
