Absolutely, I can't imagine what the hell happened here to warrant a DQ... You have to imagine DQ's this bad or worse have happened all over the world for decades, and no one but the people in attendance will ever see what happened. All to simply save or aid the "home" fighter...

Girlfriend just got home and translated. The DQ is for a butt that Saldivar supposedly landed as the action heated up at the end of the sixth round. Luis picks up some kind of cut from the butt. I see nothing that would actually warrant an instant DQ here, so I have no idea. Flat out favoritism or even crookedness, I'm not sure.

Another one that's been awhile since I saw it, weird disqualification. Say thanks to your other half, Russ. I knew that Saldivar was meant to have headbutted Luis and cut him but like cobra said that ref was a fruit loop. Luis looked like a real top talent in his early days, he reminds quite a bit of Pedroza actually. Similar style in the Panamanian vein, really smooth and slick. I'm not sure what happened to him, his career nosedived abruptly and he finished up with a record that really belies what he showed on film . His fight with Winstone used to be on youtube. Great bout with some lovely godlike pure boxing on display from them both.
