I'm ready to see the fights this weekend! If I miss some of the showtime fights I can get the reply a liitle later or the next day. Good stuff on this week!
where is Escobedo ? I remember he was being talked about like the second coming of De La Hoya. Guess he took a back seat to Vic, I just hope he dosent end up like "Panchito" Bojado.
^^ hell naw he aint gonna end up like Panchito Bojado.. They are different breeds.. PAnchito got hyped way too early in his career and fame got into his head when he didn't even accomplish anything whereas Escobedo just had a bad night against a hungry fighter in Jimenez.. With his devastating KO victory over an undefeated Salcido, he's got back his groove and will move on to bigger things. Expect to see him derail Hernandez this sat and become a player in the division.. Im especially high on this guy because he's turning into a complete fighter after going under professor Ignacio beristain and he trains with the best.. JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ and im sure he learns a whole lot.. Escobedo is the lil Golden Boy. A bad muther****er.
His opposition is ridiculously shitty and his last fight was in September. That said he's only 27 and he certainly has the right people on his side. El Famoso is also a perfect opponent for him to be showcased against. He's slow at this point, he's going to come forward and he's got a granite chin which means Escobedo can throw everything at him and look good. Barring an amazing performance from Edwin Valero, I think Escobedo comes out of the April 4th show looking the best.
i saw him on a disc channel show called fight quest about a year ago and had one of those 'oh yeah, that guy' moments. i remember he was supposed to come up but fell out and kinda went underground. on the show, he was training with nacho which is obviously a good thing. i hope that his time fighting smaller shows with less pressure has helped him redirect himself and give him perspective on his career. lightweight is loaded already, but boxing could always use another star.
Come on dude. Be real. I agree with you in that Escobedo has developed into a much more complete fighter since Golden Boy hired Beristain to take the reins from his brother, who had minimal experience as a trainer when they first started in Sacramento. I've been watching Escobedo from day one, and while I think he'll be a belt contender for years to come, especially since he can hurt you with a variety of punches (left hook is his best), he's got a LOOOOONG way to go skills-wise and accomplishment-wise before he can even be considered in the same paragraph with DLH, much less the same sentence. And I would probably be lumped in the group that is not a big fan of DLH. Oh, and he did train with the best--MANNY PACQUIAO--before he trained with Marquez. Escobedo was one of Manny's sparring partners for the third Morales fight.
