Amazingly , I a great fighter, only fought in NY once...Flattened my opponent in one round,and left the NY crowd in awe...I then departed NY, never to return...Who am I ?

Charley Burley knocked out Phil McQuillan in 2:10 of the first round at St. Nicholas Arena for his only appearance in NYC, an opportunity you have discussed missing out on sharing with your very impressed father. This was Burley's second fight after his legendary destruction of 6'3" 219 pound heavyweight Jay D. Turner in Minneapolis. As Nat Fleischer and the boxing press were largely based in the New York area, it didn't help Burley's cause for a title opportunity that he didn't display himself there beyond this one brief appearance. The records of Burley and his Murderer's Row brethren in California are not to be found in his record books.
