Hey Guys! Do anyone have The Ring Magazine issues from 1949 and 1950? I'm interested in June 1949 and November & December 1950.

No scans, but I was feeling nostalgic so I went on eBay and bought the first boxing magazine I ever owned (my collection being long, long gone to my regret):

The Ring, August 1979, which featured fights we want to see. It arrived yesterday and I’m going ot savor it.

Here’s a peek at the cover:

The Ring would soon after upgrade its look and add a lot more color photos, etc., better writing and features rather than mostly results and write-ups of fights taking place hither and yon. This is a product of its time.

As it happens I've just bought most of the 1950 ones, November and December included. Will be a few days until they reach me in the post I imagine, but once I get them I can send you pictures if there's something in particular you want to see.

Wow, thanks man! I'm looking for the articles on Ezzard Charles. His Louis fight and being crowned The Ring champion.

The second part of my stroll down eBay nostalgia street arrived today: a 1980 copy of Tonight’s Boxing Program (by the late, great Malcolm “Flash” Gordon). I think when I subscribed (a year or two later) it wasn’t just two huge foldout sheets printed front and back all over, more like a pamphlet, but I could be misremembering.

Only had a chance to glance over it so far but checked out some of the bout listings and there’s Willie Makeit, Kenny Breathe and Harry Zontle among the made-up opponent names on upcoming cards where others would say TBA, haha.

Looking forward to a dive into this and my issue of The Ring probably tomorrow.
