The great thing about Khan is that he's giving a lot of the domestic lads a good payday. That's got to be a good thing!:D

One thing for sure, Gomez can bang, but I doubt he is going to get the chance.

Khan is the biggest puncher Gomez has faced. This will look like Graham Earl, 1st round KO.

I defend Khan alot but this is poor. The only person he should have faced was Romanov.

One thing i feel is that Warren and his team want Kahn to be involved in a rough and tough, mean build up to prepare him for the big US fights.

Will Gomez complain If he gets saved from going out on his shield this time I wonder.

another old, shot smaller man for no chin Khan to feast on.
Gomez was considered done 6 years ago, he had enough left to beat Arthur as it turned out but come on, he's definitely done now.

I honestly don't expect him to im predicting a Khan stoppage around 3 or 4. But it should be fun while it lasts. And if he did somehow manage to KO Amir it would go down as my 2nd favourite moment in boxing behind Hatton and Tszyu.

Speed kills and so does skills - Khan has both. Gomez is a good opponent. But he hasn't been picked to win.

Gomez is a big super featherweight and won't be dwarfed by Khan. He has a serious dig in both hands and is the best in-fighter in the uk. He has the capability to beat Khan and certainly hits far harder then Craig Watson or Willie Limmond. I feel Gomez has a huge chance of victory.... Depending on what he has left. Realistically he may find Khans speed bewildering and be well outboxed and stopped but If Gomez can bring the same ferocity and desire as he did Vs Arthur he's got a chance. Khan will be without Oliver for the first time. There really are so many fascinating sub-plots. It all depends on Khans strategy but if he elects to stand and trade with Gomez I know 100% Gomez will win. If he runs around the ring arm punching like he did against St Clair then Gomez will be able to catch him. In order to beat Gomez Khan will have to pull out the best performance of his career and box with serious focus and be willing to did deep and land hard punches to deter Gomez. Personally the safest bet is Khan and inside six but I know Mike will be focused and will test Khan while it lasts.

I'd want to believe you, Jeff, but here's the thing: Gomez is not highly rated by the sanctioning bodies and he isn't the kind of puncher that would dispell people's worries about Khan's chin. So...if he was that dangerous, why would Warren want Khan to fight him? It doesn't make sense. If you are right, this is a lose-lose for Warren and Khan. And we both know Warren doesn't do lose-lose with his golden goose. This is why I suspect Gomez is just another Earl. Shot.

Gomez is a decent step up in class. Warren knows what he is doing by moving Khan up one step at a time. This fight could be awful but I expect Gomez has been picked because he is a known quantity who can give Khan a good test. Warren will be judging that putting Khan in with an ok test now like a good Gomez is only going to help Khan when he faces Nate or Casa. I do not believe Gomez is shot but I doubt he will have enough to get passed the 6th round. Gomez will probably go full tilt for six rounds giving all he's got. That will show us an awful lot more about Khan than just about any other fight he has been in.

I agree; this is why I think it's a good test, if Gomez has got enough to test Khan, even for a couple of rounds. Of course, if he does, a couple of rounds should be enough to catch him well...so...the question is still: does he? Does he have enough of a punch and finishing ability to do the job? Because if he does, Warren would not have take the risk!

I think that he is a definate step up from Kristjansen and St-Clair if he has abit left in him. If Gomez can put six rounds in against Khan like those he did against Johanesson then the fight should be good. Khan has not faced an opponent who is prepared to get in at him and fight, Gomez will do that until he is stopped. We will either come out saying Khan is ready for a genuine title push or still in the belief he will get mullered when he steps up to elite standard.

Gomez could be shot but we have to hope that he has enough left to offer six rounds of action. I do think that Warren wants to see a competative fight.

Yeah...I'm sure he wants to see Khan can get over a difficult dangerous opponent, but if he thought Khan was ready, he'd have put him against Romanov...right? So...he must think that Gomez isn't quite that dangerous or difficult...:think

On a domestic name basis alone this is still a decent name for the rising Khan. It will be interesting to see how Khan deals with his pressure because Gomez will try to rough him up. His defintly see better days and Khan has the power to put him away but if he leaves his chin out to dry Gomez can hurt him. This is Khans for the taking. Amir inside of 5.
