Try behaving? You're harder work than 'The Lads' - both of you in the same thread usually means double trouble for me! atsch
He battered Dazzo, took him to town. Dazzo probably looked at his patchy record, looked at the fact his KO percentage wasn’t that high and went to knock him out. Big mistake. I remember Carl just grinning when he was battering Williams around. Baz said he was the hardest-hitting fighter he has ever been in with. I think if you asked a lot of his former opponents who was one of the hardest punchers you’d been in with Carl’s name would be there. Did you ever see when Carl fought Phillip N’Dou, the South African puncher who went on to challenge Floyd Mayweather for the WBC lightweight title, at the York Hall in 1999? He was roughing N’Dou up in the first round – rocked him a few times as well. But N’Dou caught him with a few solid hooks to the body in the second and Carl took the count. By the way, Jeff, would you fancy a fight with Billy Smith at some stage during your comeback?
100% yes I would be honured to fight Billy he is a quality journeyman and every credit to him he has turned over some good fighters recently. We were going to fight the night I beat Anthony Christopher. I never seen the Ndou fight would love to see the williams fight have you got it on vid?
I was talking to Bill the other day and he said that he wants a few more fights in the lions den this year. He is making a defence of his Midland Area title on May 12 should Joe come through OK on March 1, mind and then will go back on the road again for a few pay-days, albeit ones he will try and win. I have the Allen-Dazzo fight somewhere. I will try and find it, convert it to dvd and whack the link on here.
I'm curious about your comment "it is one of those things that you get on a small bill". Is it the norm and why the association with small bills in particular? I can appreciate Harding must have been disappointed not to get to box but in the circumstances he only has himself to blame. Carey exercising his right not to fight an opponent who came in 6lbs over may have done Harding more of a favour in the long run as I suspect he is much more likely to make weight next time knowing not every opponent will let you get away with it.
That last sentence is accurate because Baz is set to fight Martin Gethin over six-threes in Birmingham on February 28, although it hasn't been 100 per cent confirmed yet; Martin could be taking on bigger Ali Wyatt instead. A stoppage loss against Harding on February 16 would have scuppered that.
I had to go and have a quick read of your write up on BBN - see what you mean about Goddins coming in at 10st 5 and his opponent 10st. Also note you thought Brian Rose was fortunate to get a draw. That result is a shame as a hometown draw decision is a bit of a blot on his record - still, at least it wasn't a loss!
I thought he won the first lost the second and third then won the fourth, fifth and sixth quite handily.
Yeah there certainly were a few who thought he had drawn or maybe even lost. The thing with Brian is everything comes off his jab.... it is his bread and butter and obviously when your boxing a southpaw with a fast straight left counter your going to be hesitant. He was too hesitant without his jab- he should have been leading woth the right and coming back with the left hook but he didn't do it once. Not critisisng your opinion Terry merely stating it was for me a fight open to interpretation. Ultimately a poor showing from Brian based on his capabilities but he showed stacks of balls and I think he will improve on the back of this.
