Despite the disappointment of a few bouts being cancelled/pull outs, etc, it was a quality show in Colne last Sunday, where each bout was entertaining and value for money. I thought Chris O'Brien deserved the verdict over Willie Warburton, though it was close. I think Chris landed the cleaner shots, and I feel he can up his game some more should there be a third meeting between the two. You definitely get the sense he's the better boxer. Just needs to make more of an authority of himself in the ring and I have no doubt he would clearly beat Warburton, who's a game fighter. Was very impressed with Shayne Singleton, who had a good quality workout from reliable journeyman Carl Allen. I saw Shayne on his pro debut, and he had a lot of good attributes but seemed over-eager and excited with his punches at times. This time he showed he has improved with a much more calm, controlled, intelligent performance, throwing fast quality punches and combinations. It was good to watch and I hope he continues to improve because he has considerable talent and could really go places. An exciting one to watch. I was very impressed with the heart and courage of Kemal Plavci. Vicious Keiran Farrell unleashed all hell on him, throwing (and landing) lots of hooks to the head and body, yet Plavci just kept coming and firing right back at him. No doubt Farrell clearly dominated but Plavci did himself no disgrace and definitely earned his pay in a very entertaining little scrap. I missed the first couple of rounds of the Trevor Crewe fight (was caught up in bad weather traffic on the 4 hour journey from Cardiff), but from what I saw he looked a little lost at times. He needed to up his work rate and use the ring a bit more intelligently, rather than just following Salari around and getting picked off. It appeared he lacked confidence in his stamina to commit himself. Hopefully he would have learned a few lessons from this and it will make him a better boxer - I always say a defeat can be much better than several easy blow out wins, if you take away with you the experience and learn from it. All in all, good quality small hall show! Well done V.I.P & Maree Promotions!
