Gomez will make Virchis look like a fool,if he is really ready he will outclass Virchis easily. You will be surprise how easy.Maybe even will KO him.
It's OK to punch the other guy in the fac, infact it's expected (it's boxing afterall); but, the holding and hitting is usually frowned upon.
ok,let me elaborate...two straights left to the face in round 8 after being torturing the russian for 8 rounds with jabs and hooks...the big russian falls, then gets up,will continue but is bleeding everywhere..the doc comes, check the wounds..ok another round...Gomez jumps on him, keeps getting those lefts into the face, the giant is swallonig his own blood..cant carry on.Referee stops the fight. good enough?..i can elaborate more.
I got Virchis in this one. Gomez has clearly lost a step and just isn't reliable. McCall as old and slow as he is now was catching up to Gomez. Virchis isn't fast, but he is bigger than McCall and better at timing his punches than Oliver is now. I expect Virchis to land something big in the second half of the fight that puts Gomez down for the count.
yeah i agree on that point man. gomez isnt as chinny as people seem to believe. he was just tanked apon holding and hittting as it is...look how flush those shots are. virchis is not goign to be able to do that to gomez i feel he is a one hitter not a swarmer
Gomez has a good chin. I saw him take lots of power punches, among others by hard hitting Oli McCall, and not even blink. He wasn't KOed by Yanqui Diaz - it was a TKO, Gomez didn't prepare at all for that fight and was out of shape, Diaz hit him with like 12 consecutive big right hands and Gomez still didn't go down, the ref waved it off. I think if Gomez prepares himself well for this fight (which isn't a 100% given, considering Gomez not always being serious about boxing - just look at his recent trouble when he breached his contract with Öner) he should be able to outbox the slow as a snail Virchis quite easily. Virchis of course has a solid punchers chance. Nothing more. Gomez UD Virchis
i think yanqui was more of a 'fluke' that is capable of happening to most fighters, especially underprepared ones (that jcg probably was given his history). isn't virchis slower than a "sun dial"? mccall also has top power (tho his ability to deliver it has declined) and jcg beat him convincingly. tho i obviously don't know too much about virchis, but from what i've read, i'd have to think that he has a solid punchers chance but the better boxer jcg should win.
He's a classy boxer in against a slow fighter. It makes sense. He can also punch, althought Virchis has a good chin, and his punch resistance is pretty good despite the Yanqui Diaz TKO loss.
Even though I would like for Virchis to present us with a KO, I would not be surprised if Gomez won by decision. After all, Gomez is a superior boxer in this fight. Very interesting match up indeed.
