I've always said that Gomez will outbox the slow Virchis quite easily, with Virchis having little more than a punchers chance. HOWEVER, seeing that Gomez weighed in at a career high 233lbs and Virchis being 10lbs lighter than last time he fought, I now think that it's a real pick'em fight. 50/50
Virchis is capable of taking his head off, but Gomez will likely pull a decision win tonight. Virchis power is amazing.
That does change things a bit. I still pick Gomez by decision but Virchis chances did just get better.
Gomez should have been at least an alphabet champion at heavyweight years ago if he wasn´t such a f***up
Really not sure here could go either way. Gomez has a tendency to lose concentration sometimes and if he does that here BAM it could be all over. Virchis is the most dangerous fighter he has fought at Heavy because he lulls you into a false sense of supremacy. You can be easily winning every round against him and be cruising but if you let your guard down for a second you are gone. I will tentatively go for Gomez UD but I really feel Virchis can end it at any point.
None of us really know what effect his inactivity has done to Gomes. But normally this should and probably will be a walk over for Gomes. I say: Gomes KO 11th round.
