:fireWho will win and how? I favor Virchis. Gomez has a chance if it goes the distance though. I still like Virchis most likely on a close decsion.

No way Virches is wining by decision

Virches by K.O or Gomez by decision

i think Gomez wins by U.D. decision

Gomez should win easily unless he does something stupid. Not even the Germans will have the balls to rob him in this, such will be the boxing lesson and difference in speed.

We are talking about a guy outboxed by Michael Sprott for long periods.

Yes Virches has Power but Gomez has s good chin

Gomez was more out of shape than usually at the diaz fight.

If Gomez can avoid Virchis power he will win a UD. That is a big question though.

I quite agree with you. Gomez by decision or Virchis by ko.

Gomez has to play it safe carefully outboxing Virchis without taking any risks. Virchis can end a fight any time. His firepower is murderous, but he is slow as a snail on a track race.
I will bet my money on the Cuban. He should be able to win a fairly wide point decision. He is head and shoulders above his Ukranian foe in terms of speed and skills.
However,Gomez had better keep his nose to the grindstone or he will find himself lying in the ring dust against Virchis. I very much hope that Gomez has sweat in the ring like he is supposed to do. Gomez has proved again and again that he prefers partyhing to preparing properly for an upcomming fight.
If Gomez turns up with overweight and a bad stamina so that he is out of puff after 6 rounds with the Ukranian behemoth he will be doomed.Virchis will mercilessly hunt him down and finally catch him with one of his brutal punches.
It all depends on which version of Gomez will show up for this fight.

when is Gomez going to step-up and make his move? this guy has bags of boxing ability, but he never seems to make the most of it!

I'm prepared to forgive the Diaz loss, putting it down to lack of focus, but if he doesn't start making a proper move on the title soon then I wont forgive him for that.

Virchis seems like a strong, powerful and upright european fighter. Good, but not in the same class as Gomez. I fully expect Gomez to dominate him like he did with Sinan Samil Sam, a similar fighter, strong but limited.

    You must be joking,mate!

Sinan Samil Sam, a similar fighter,eh!! I guess you have never seen Virchis in the ring neither live nor on tv.

And by the way Virchis is a huge step up for Gomez.Actually, his upcomming fight with Virchis will be the most important fight in Gomez 's career. The victor of Virchis vs Gomez will face the winner of Sam Peter vs Vitaly Klitschko.
And lets not forget that a lot of people consider Virchis to be a better banger than Sam Peter.I,too, doubt that Peter would go 12 rounds with Virchis.
Virchis has never had any trouble with stationary targets.
Anyway! A well prepared version of Gomez is no sitting duck in front of Virchis' fists. He should be able to outbox Virchis. He did outbox Sinan Samil Sam a few years ago. However, there is a huge different between Virchis and Sinan Sam. Virchis' firepower is a theat to any foe. This cant be said about Sinan Samil Sam.Thats for sure!

Gomez is finally stepping up, he's had so much potentia but the man hasn't even gotten a HW title match. Now he'll beat Virchis and get it.
    Gomez UD.

    Gomez via decision.

Gotta love Virchis though he looks like a caveman swinging his club.

I haven't seen much of Virchis but from what I have seen I wasn't terribly impressed. On the other hand, I've seen plenty of Gomez and he has the goods if he wants to use them. I can see JC winning an easy decision here but Virchis having the equalizer will make it an interesting fight. Intriguing heavyweight fight. Too bad it's not taking place over here in the states. Not enough non-title matchups pitting solid heavyweight contenders against each other.
