I'd like to see a Virchis KO here.

virchis is hugely overrated. he is slow and one-dimensional and will never catch the opponent if he actually moves. he almost was knocked out by sprott for god's sake and had no chance to knock out sprott on the other hand.

I just can't get even remotely excited for this one...I really hope one guy makes a big statement in there and makes me sit up and pay attention.

I think Gomez will be too slick for Virchis and outbox him to a points win, despite looking lazy as usual in parts.

I think if Gomez prepares himself well for this fight (which isn't a 100% given, considering Gomez not always being serious about boxing - just look at his recent trouble when he breached his contract with Öner) he should be able to outbox the slow as a snail Virchis quite easily. Of course Virchis always has a punchers chance.

    Gomez UD Virchis

I disagree that Virchis is slow. I thought he was a rather fast puncher, and we all know that his KO power is not to be denied.

He may be able to knock Gomez out, but I kinda doubt it. Gomez is a pretty skillled fighter who'll know to move and stay away from Virchis's earth cracking shots.

I predict a Gomez decision win, but I would rather see Virchis catch him, and put him out, creating a bit of Virchis BUZZ, as the division loves and needs powerhouse KO punchers who can end the show in one shot........and Virchis is that kind of fighter, from what I've seen.

Gomez by decision is my prediction.

Gomez via decision I have never been very impressed with Virchis I felt he lost to Sprott.

    Hugely overrated,eh!

He brutally knocked Hawkins out in his last outing to a ring. Neither Sam Peter nor David Tua had been able to do that.
He twice beat Vidoz who had once schooled Sam Peter at the amateurs kicking him out of the olympic tournament. He knocked Taras Bidenko out in one of the most entertaining fights of the last handful of years.
He lost a split decision to one of the reigning champs,Ruslan Chagaev.
Overrated? Nah! Nodoby has ever claimed that he would catch a world title and defend him numerous times.
Sprott? He did struggle with Sprott, and he also struggled with Bidenko.
But lets not forget that Virchis is a slow and limited behemoth who has always had problems with mobile fighters.
However, a stationary target is in great danger to be knocked out.
Virchis would probably be schooled and get a lesson in boxing by Chris Byrd in his prime, but I for my part will bet my money on him in an encounter with Sam Peter.
Sadly, this fight will probably never come off. Gomez has the right style to beat Virchis(unless he is out of shape and has once again prefered partyhing to sweating in the gym).

Against the Atomic Bull Gomez wasn't that fast either, but he is definitely another calibre than Virchis. If Gomez comes in in perfect condition, he might also be able to knock this bull out.

McCall showed an extremely poor performance in his first encounter with Gomez, but neither did he set the world on fire in his second encounter with the Cuban.
All in all Virchis is a far more dangerous opponent for most fighters out there than the old geezer McCall.
However,I still think that Gomez' style is totally wrong for Virchis so that he will win his upcomming fight with the big Ukranian.

I would have prefered watching Vitaly take on Gomez and Virchis fight Sam Peter

If Gomez is motivated and fights smart, he should be able to win a fairly wide UD. He's a MUCH better boxer than Virchis, and he should be quick enough to avoid plodding Virchis' biggest shots. I'll guess it's something like 117-111, but only because Gomez will take a few rounds off like he always does.

I agree with Odo that Virchis knocks out Peter, if they ever fight.
