A mate of mine also bought the box set a couple of years ago and we watched the first two series IIRC. I enjoyed it. Yeah, same here. I look back on a lot of those programs I used to watch back then with great fondness. I did find it scary though, as I did the Hammer House of Horror TV series. Neither of those programs were at all fit for children to watch but I used to watch them all the time. The theme music/opening titles used to scare me too. [YT]Oc46Gk-6qrA[/YT]
It sometimes scares me Serge with how similar alot of things you write are to things I was thinking and writing. Some of the films and programmes I have seen you mentioned in the lounge, you beat me to it when I wanted to write about them. I used to enjoy that Hammer series and they show some of them on the horror channel. Roald Dahl wrote alot of those tales of the unexpected I think. I look back at those programmes and think how English they feel though I am starting to think how old I feel
This is likely the reason we are both Tier One posters. Yes he did. Believe it or not, Elizabeth Taylor wrote or at least co-wrote the Flypaper episode. My best mate and I often talk about those TV programs we used to watch during our childhood and toys, sweets, comics, gadgets etc from back then. And yes, a lot of those TV programs do have a very English feel to them. We speak about that too. I recently had a look on some of those nostalgia sites and saw loads of stuff I remember from those days and plenty more I'd completely forgotten about. I've got hundreds of pics from them I saved on my hard drive. One day I might post them in a thread in the Lounge as it's actually really nice to reacquaint yourself with all these things that were part of your childhood, especially all the stuff that you've forgotten about. :good
