Virgil Hill's title reign was marred by a severe lack of talent. Could he have won a title in the LightHeavyweight Division in it's heyday? Against Eddie Mustafa Muhammed, Matt Saad Mohammad, John Conteh, Michael Spinks, Marvin Johnson, Victor Galindez, Dwight Braxton, Ect.

    :huh

You had three HoF fighters in:
    DM
    Jones
    Hill

and then some guys who were good fighters:
    Maske
    Rocchigiani
    Griffin

    Tiozzo
    Williams
    Tate
    Hall
    old Nunn
    Johnson
    old McCallum
    old Hearns

I don“t think the 90s were that bad, not the strongest division sure but not bad either.

    I really doubt it.

I think he'd have been a good solid challenge. I liked the guy. I liked it that he made the most of his talent. Maybe he could have got a decision against marvin Johnson. that would have been a good fight. I think he'd have lost to the others.

I place him well behind Conteh, Galindez, Saad, Johnson, Qwai, Mustafa and Spinks ... I don't even think he beats Yaqi Lopez ... no knock ... Virgil was a decent fighter, well conditioned and a credit to the sport but he benefited from very easy competition .... his best win was the title winning bout against Leslie Stewart ...

He was never really truly tested until Hearns. But then he lost...

Hill gets about a tenth of the credit he deserves.

Yes Darius Michalczewski beat him... But guess who beat Darius?

Tiozzo. Beat Darius down and out. He was just too big and ate everything Darius threw at him.

And no, Darius was no more old or shopworn then Tiozzo. It was among the final fights of both their careers, and there's only a year difference in age between the two.

The only fighter to ever beat Tizzo?

Hill. Twice. Once by brutal, brutal first round knockout.

Also, Hill started his career at 156 pounds. He fought as a middleweight in the amateur's, winning a silver metal to boot.

In the amateurs he also completely beat the **** out of Micheal Nunn.

Started his career as a middleweight and had huge success all the way to cruiserweight at an advanced age.

Give the man at least a little credit.

Im sorry I cant see why he is "well behind" some of those fighters.

Hill plateaued and some how managed to stay there for a loooong time. Whilst that plateau was not quite as high as most of those blokes, he doesnt shame himself in any of those fights.
The man knew his craft and obviously looked after himself.

What a BS. DM was not only shot against Tiozzo but that was also his first nd last try of a comeback after he was retired for 2 years.
