You do realize that merely being in attendance at a fight doesn't make you an expert, right?

Close fight that has to go the distance, I never thought a lot of Hill during his reign but as has already been pointed out Bivol is not a KO puncher and would need to land a bunch on Hill. Can't see that happening so a decision is the way to go, I'm wondering if Hill could hurt Bivol to make him stop and think. At this point it'd be close

Bivol decisions him. Bivol seems a step ahead in his IQ and handspeed. I think you need a big puncher with a chin to beat him.

This is the problem. Beterbiev might batter Bivol and then retire. Just because he gets manhandled by Beterbiev doesn't mean his resume should take a massive hit aslong as he beats the rest, he will go again. Beterbiev mauls alot of lhws of the past, not all of them but alot, he is a beast. Hill didn't face anyone like Beterbiev. It's Like Bivol won't face anyone similar to Roy Jones.
This is worse than the general with the writing of fighters for a loss, but here what they do is they smooth over a loss for the past era. This is a post not directed at you personally but I had to address the beterbiev thing.

I guess Hills best win was Maske.

Both Bivol and Beterbiev are really solid practitioners and great for the division.

I prefer Bivol, in terms of his style and what he could go on to produce. He might be the only guy who can beat Beterbiev, at present, and is the younger of the two (albeit having hit his 30s now)

With that said, Beterbiev, despite his advanced age, is looking like a T-800 Terminator, fresh off the production line. I found his breakdown and stoppage of Browne to be brutally impressive.

As to the OP - Well, I'd like to see more of Bivol before backing him against Hill who, to my mind, showed he was a consistent and class operator over many years and many title fights. We can question the quality of some of the opposition in those runs, but there are some high-end tests in there so, it can't be entirely rubbished. Even in defeat to Hearns, the quality of the boxing in the bout is difficult to deny.

For now, I'd back Hill in a close contest. But that could change, as Bivol progresses.

    Hill W UD 12.

I’d pick AB over Hill. AB’s fight with Bivol if it happens soon enough is a mega fight with hall of fame entry going to the winner and possibly the loser.

Its the best Light heavyweight match up in years.

how can you compare 25 defenses to one.. People overrate Bivol at this point. He seems good, but Canelo was and is in small guy. We are overrating Canelo and Bivol.. Canelo at the weight, not as a fighter, where he is experienced and doesn't miss anything, but any fight is limited at times. But Hill was a great boxer with strong legs and a good jab and counter left.. not a great right, but a good hall of fame fighter.

You're deflecting. You were talking about eras before. Hill somehow lost to Hearns and got owned by Jones. Doesn't say much for him being dominant in his own era.

    Bivol's story is being written.

Hearns and Jones were two of the greatest fighters the last 40 years.. Bivol is not yet in Hill's category. People sure rush to judgement quickly in boxing today. We want to have great fighters I know, but no need to rush it. He beat a small hall of fame fighter in Canelo. Let's see how he does in the rematch and against other guys before we crown him hall of fame himself.
