Conteh, pretty clearly IMO. Styles don't really matter here, Conteh was just the better fighter.

I think we would see less right hands than rounds.

Ouch! Conteh would outbox him and out jab him. Then stop him late.

For the record, I don't find either of them pretty.

Conteh, with his superior skills, would win a decision by a wide margin. Hill would survive to the last bell but would be outgunned and outboxed.

Virgil Hill was no pretty boy, but whatever, Conteh would out pretty, outpunch, out party, probably even out jab Hill.

That said, I liked Hill, but his style means he probably will forever be underrated, much like Conteh, who unlike Hill only has himself to blame for only being a superstar in Merseyside, and for a very short period the UK.

Conteh off the party scene and the pitfalls that came with it, could of led the 175lbers all the way up to 82/83 ish and one Michael Spinks. Conteh could of, indeed should of been huge in the States.

I agree with the consensus, that complete technical style of Conteh's would be a foil imo. You can counter good outboxing stemming from a jab with a style like Conteh's, propelling short rights and hooks when the opponent commits to the jab. The tools he has to use would take Conteh to a decision over the distance i reckon.

Conteh just had those bad bad hands. Hard to win for very long when you suffer with that kind of problem in the higher weight divisions. And very few guys have had prosperous careers with that obstacle to overcome.

I know Conteh was a pretty talented fighter and all and i do pick him here by a close decision, but i think Conteh is overrated on this forum.

I think the same, Conteh has a lot of love on this forum. But when someone says that Monzon ducked him...ehhh

    Who said that?.

It's not true of course, i'd suspect it was one of the anti-monzon crowd, rather than someone trying to prop up Conteh per se.

I tend to think conteh is rated about right on classic- it's not as if you have people calling him a true great and/or picking him over the likes of Charles and Moore or anything-...and slightly underestimated on internet boxing forums in general.

I mean lots of people on eastside think Joe Calzaghe would have decisioned him:lol:.
