Virgil Hunter claims Ward was forced by HBO to move up to protect GGG!

ward isnt fan friendly and hbo has never pushed ward the way they push lil g......almost no other fighter in the world could get hbo to approve the fights they approve lil g for.....

 

People are really underestimating Ward going into this fight

let's asume this is true. is Virgil saying Ward never wanted to dare to be great, he wanted to fight smaller men but he was forced not to? knowing Ward, he would have taken this chit to court the same day. i think Ward is happier now, he gets to fight bum after bum pretending to get ready for Kovalev, but we all know he'll never fight him

 

So far only Kovalev seems intent on keeping to his agreement. Chilemba is signed up, we are in June, they are meant to fight in November and Ward still doesn't have the second of his "tune up" lined up.

ward/kova is a mega fight...its huge...its better than anything lil g will ever be a part of....more of a reason for lil g to stay away...hes not built to s**** with someone with the nuts ward has....someone as skilled as ward....hbo paying out that protection money this summer for a ward tuneup

i dont need to get a life..im not the one defending an unproven and overrated fighter...you need to face the reality of the situation...and realize that ward was blatantly ducked by lil g....when you come to realize this as truth you will feel liberated

 

There's probably some truth to it. To say he was "forced" is probably too strong. That may be Virgil creating a little drama and interest in Ward's next fight.

Networks, HBO in particular, do have a reputation of trying to be fight promoters, not just nuetral hosts of the event.

And we already know GGG is protected, based on the way the Rodriguez fight was handled, as well as friends coming out exposing him. He is a beast. But, not quite the beast he is framed as.

But, Ward isn't running. He is fulfilling his contract. So, let's see what happens. I personally don't think he is hesitant about fighting Kovalev. He will a have a tremendous speed advantage, unlike Kovalev has been in the ring with. He would be by FAR the best talent Kovalev has been in the ring with. He has a better ring IQ than Kovalev and better all around skill. It's Kovalev's great power and his ability to use it with skill, some finesse, and some pretty good timing, that makes this a risky fight. But, Ward will likely figure out how to neutralize that. If Ward isn't getting hit clean, or being caught off guard, it's his fight to lose, IMO.

I actually think Stevenson is a more difficult style for Ward.

Ward moving up and risking his life because he has no options. He has to obey his masters. Can't fill a home arena, has no business pull, he has to fall in line like an obedient little dog.

Only to get battered by a monster for a payday. A cash out.

Don't try to argue this is 50/50. Vegas will have this at least 2:1 for Kovalev, and money never lies.
