Actually he needs to fight Kovalev and prove his Chin. Or he can go down to 160 and fight GGG since it was ok for Dawson to come down and fight him. Ward has had 1 relevant fight in 4 years.
Dawson was the one who called him out at 68, not Ward's fault. He has many fights left at 68 and that's where he should be fighting. He's tested his chins against the power punches at 68. :good
GGG has 4 titles @ MW to track down. Ntm...great fights w Jacobs Quillin BJS EubankJr korobov and even Harrison Kyrtov and potential greats like Canelo Boo Boo and solid guys like Martirosyan and the Charlos. You got Lubin coming around too as well as Spence and Ali. ward beat 3/6 best potential A level guys during his run 3 yes ago. GGG hasn't even begun his campaign of terror
Ward should fight Felix Sturm, Ward is still rusty. After Sturm go after a title holder like Abraham or DeGale.
yup you also left out Deverychenko, Golub, Quigley as well in the guys coming up 175 and 160 have the best prospects in boxing and and 160 also has a lot of guys from 154 who will have to move up GGG would be an idiot to move up into the barren 168 division
It'll be very interesting. He's open to fighting 4 times per year, but can he get the fights he wants? I don't want him to move up yet, because like you've noted, there's potentially some great fights out there for him. But I can't see him staying there for that long. I think he'll definitely try his hand at SMW at some pont in the near future.
Fighters need to stay at their own weight division and DOMINATE. Every division should have a clear chapion. Unify and dominate. Ward can do that at SMW.
That makes sense to me, however I think that GGG and Ward are on a collision course because they have been spitting fire at each other verbally and it's just a matter of time before the fight is made. I am more inclined to believe that is the reason Ward is choosing to stay at 168.
SOB Ward fought as a light heavyweight as an amateur, that's his true weight, not 168.....................Adonis Stevenson called Ward out live on HBO, said that he would come down to 168 yet Ward refused to even answer him. When asked if he would fight Kovalev, Ward said that Kovalev was too big for him. I think that Beterbiev, with only 9 fights would knock Ward out.................. Sometime back Ward claimed that he would easily beat the Klitschkos, but he never signed a contract. Klitschko would smash Ward like an ant...............
