100% agree with Virgil here. If a mother****er thinks he has any chance he may go out on his shield, but in the case of Chad Dawson, he knew he had zero chance and decided to quit instead... and that's 100x more satisfying. :deal

Marquez's KO of Pac is an example but if a fighter is already being dominated before being KO'ed then there will be no doubt at all.

very well said. Its all about perspective. Virg was just telling it through the eyes of a fighter. Some guys will die in that ring if you just let them. Virgil wouldnt let his guy take a beating, hed throw in the towel if he had to for the sake of his fighter. But I think he was being philosophical, so i dont take it to0 literally :good

    Makes sense.

A guy could be winning every second of a fight for 10 rounds and then get caught with a haymaker and lose.

If a guy quits after taking a sustained beating then there us no doubt as to who the superior man on the night was.

Absolutely. Even if Virgil made this statement before the Ward/Froch fight, this truly applies to the Ward/Dawson fight. Ward completely dominated Dawson and made him look foolish. To see the look on Dawson's face as the referee was asking if he wanted to continue and to hear him say no was unbelievable. Ward took his boxing soul in that fight. He was mentally broken in that fight and has never recovered.

actually when khan got knocked out(by garcia) the knockout looked like it was coming he was getting a beat up before the KO

i think virgil is talking about knockouts coming after the guy who got knocked dominated the guy

Your 1st sentence, there are tons of people that disagree (NOT including me).

Your 2nd sentence, I don't think that's what he meant. I agree with someone else who said something to likes of: "admitting defeat is more satisfying than getting caught with a haymaker", paraphrasing of course.

i personally rather beat up a guy for 10 rounds and dominate him and for him to say i want no more then knock out a guy out of the blue i agree with virgil

because when the fighter himself or his team throw the towel their is no doubt indeed

He's actually right. You know you completely beat your opponent physically and mentally by forcing him to quit out of a fight.
