You seem to be having a hard time following this. If Canelo loses he has nowhere to go. There aren't any viable fights for him if he loses yet another big fight. There are no more Khan's or shot Cotto's to fight. I guess he could rematch Lara or Liam Smith?

 

He needs to worry about Ward beating Kovalev and not worry about Canelo. Ward got a gift now he want to retire.

 

Considering Canelo was defending his Middleweight Title vs Khan, don't ya'll agree that it should have been defended above 154?

Is Virgil ignoring the fact that Canelo was doing "right" by demanding it be fought at 155 as opposed to 154 since it was a MW Title Defense? Is Virgil forgetting the fact that it was a MW Title defense or would he had rather Khan fought Canelo at 154 in a Non-Title bout?

I see a lot of ya'll agreeing with Virgil Hunter here about Canelo, but on the Khan fight I don't see how you can agree with him. It made no sense for Canelo - Khan to have been fought at 154 since Canelo did not have a 154 belt at the time. For those who thought Canelo should have been defending it at 160, that's fine, but at the same time defending it at 155 was still better than doing what Virgil is apparenly suggesting which would be to defend it at 154. It wouldn't have made sense for Canelo vs Khan to have been fought at 154, like Virgil is suggesting, with Canelo holding that title.

Probably right but that's what is wrong about boxing nowadays,in reality Canelo would get nothing but respect if he fought GGG and lost but the Mayweather effect has made boxers so scared of a loss or two,only Canelos loyal fans would agree with these "smart business" decisions like it should mean anything to them,the rest of us can clearly see that Oscar and Canelo have been avoiding any one division and those that are ranked highly,sure I see that Chavez with his size represents a threat but then again he also has been a none starter for a while and has a rep for being unprofessional so let's have it right Canelo is a cash cow and there's nothing wrong in that but let's not pretend he's after fighting the best middleweights as he's avoiding that place like the plague.

For me, if there was to be any pretence whatsoever at that fight masquerading as a legitimate middleweight title bout then it needed to be fought at 160. The actual championship weight. Otherwise, 154, 155, it makes no difference. It's essentially what it was, an exhibition fight, as opposed to any kind of serious championship bout.
