He understands the sport his ability to train and get fighters to implement his thinking ... Poor so yes and no
h doesnt care about angulo but im starting to think hes a total bluffer too,he got ward young and probably just showed him the basics and then worked with him, he looks like hes just giving khan some of wards moves whether they suit him or not, hes annoying the way he goes on too
He is very overrated. Ward is the type that would have been a great fighter no matter who he was with. Also, there is another guy who was instrumental to teaching Ward how to box but his name escapes me now. Like i have said many times about Hunter. He speaks with a calmness, eloquence and projection of a very intelligent knowledgable man but the truth is that if you look at the reality of it and what he does, he really isn't that knowledgable about boxing. He appears to be more knowledgable than he really is. Kind of the opposite to Mayweather Sr. The man can hardly string a sentence together but he knows the technical aspects of boxing like the back of his hand.
Calm down...you don't get all hyped up saying the same thing about Robert Garcia everytime Rios comes out to fight. Angulo is ****...you can't teach an old dog new tricks...this is especially true for a fighter like Angulo.
miniq i didnt watch berto but i heard he was unimpressive it just seems like there all going backwards,
he is an ok trainer... called it long time back... he ain't **** need to have right kind of fighter to work with virigl... angulo/virgil combo never made sense....
Berto sucks can't be fixed... Mares shouldn't have changed trainers... Angulo can't be 'fixed' by anyone Ward is the result of a lifetime with Hunter - and it's very impressive. Khan will always remain talented no matter who trains him...but he showed some good teachings from Virgil against Collazo (not just holding -.-)
I'm not only referring to Angulo. Berto, Karim Mayfield, Mike Dallas, Brandon Gonzalez, Argenis Mendez. All lost a recent fight under the tutelage of Hunter. Only Andrade, Khan and Ward out of his entire stable won their last fights. That's before you consider how poor Khan was against Diaz too.
Shouldn't put an expectation on a fighter just because of the trainer he is with... The fighter is what matters most... My biggest beef with Virgil is letting Mike Dallas get in the ring with Matthysse...matchmakers fault also.
i kinda prefered the way khan used to fight, to me it looked like he was just trying to get khan to do what ward does. something about him is a bit off too
In an individual sense, yes, I agree, but when there's a pattern of poor performance by clearly talented fighters then the common denominator is the trainer.
