Well for me pads are much better even for fitness cause my trainer pretty much constantly make me punch so he really makes me move more and punch, than around heavybag, punching bag was always easier for me because i set the pace(and u guess take 'brake' unconsciously) but with pads trainer is the one setting pace.

THis is how you hit the pads from the most talented boxer in the world! mayweather also doesn't punch that hard or ward! those pad styles are good for them but not the best!

Watch the video the best padwork you will see!

ive thought about that for awhile now, and it doesnt seem to have any negative effects on floyd jnr so far:think:huh

but i have wondered if what they do on the pads is more for loosening up and training relaxed like that allows for greater overall mobility?

Does Floyd ever do a normal pad workout that allows for hard punches at speed?

That style they do on the pads may just be Floyd jnrs way of not aggravating his soft:conf hands?:conf

On some videos Hunter pads work looks lazy, but i watched this like 20x and Ward is great to watch on pads, no wide shot that opponent will see coming no bad habits at all.

My guess is that Floyd is great because of all the other great stuff he does especially the extensive sparring, incredible amount of running etc.
For all his greatness he is a very light puncher though.
If he never did one day with that stupid pad work out he would be just as good.
It will never make sense to me to punch in a way that you never would do in a fight.

No he is not, you are basing this on 147 and 154 were guys are bigger, look at him at lighter weights and you will see he good power, not power puncher but not light puncher either.

Floyd can keep guys off him. I know he doesnt like to get hit. and uses movement and ring smarts, but his punch power must be pretty decent. Not one shot KO power, but power enough to keep his opponents from wading in on him all guns blazing.

What this proves that pads increase power:blood you can be stubborn as much as you want but pads are for accuracy, punching technique etc and best for trainer to see your mistakes and point it out for you, to build power you need resistance and no way can trainers hand do that as much as it needs to increase power, and first post i made is in relevance some style of holding to pads diminishing power that is simply false, find me one trainer that said mitts are for power...

Because he has tremendous balance, punch technique not a single punch wide, thats why he always beats his opponents to a punch, which ever punch or combination he throws he is in perfect positioning he is amazing you can all hate him but he is GREAT.
