Well first of all, being a realist in boxing like I am, you cant be critical of Bute when you have situations that go on where people are being maneuvered into titles. You have Canelo being maneuvered into a title. Hes fighting guys who are not even ranked in the division below him and hes getting accolades and praises for that, so how can you knock Lucian Bute? You have Chavez Junior being maneuvered into a title and hes getting accolades and praises for that, for fighting someone and disregarding those who are truly worthy of the challenge. So when you look at that aspect of boxing you have to tell the truth and say how can you talk about Lucian Bute? Hes not doing anything different than some people are. I happen to think hes a great champion because hes doing what hes supposed to do with the people that hes fighting and getting them out of there. Canelo is going the distance and hes struggling. Chavez is going the distance and hes struggling. Hes getting his people out of there so I have to give him credit for that, and by no means is he an unworthy champion. His time will come. Now I do have reservations as to whether or not he should get a shot right away after Froch and Ward and everyone has come through the gauntlet so to speak. I do have reservations about that, because its almost like youre sitting there at the end and just waiting for a reward without working for it. Like I just mentioned, Ive seen that with Canelo and Chavez Junior. By no means is he an unworthy champion. Hes worthy of every bit if praise that he gets, and I have nothing demeaning to say about him. Hes a tremendous talent, he works hard, hes a big draw, hes popular, and my hat goes off to him. One day I hope that we fight and I hope that fight will be soon. I am disappointed he and Kessler didnt fight. I was very disappointed that Kessler decided to take the route that he took. I dont know the particulars behind it, but with the politics of the sport theres a lot. I just dont understand why they would trot him out to Montreal and do all the things that they did, and the fight didnt take place. It looks like hes going to fight Kelly next. I think that will be a very interesting fight. By no means in my opinion is Kelly Pavlik through. You cant base it on his last fight after such a long layoff and the tremendous odds that hes overcome. I think hes going to be a player in the division, and I think hes somebody if they dont take seriously theyre going to realize they made a mistake. The division is very interesting. The division is very strong. There are a lot of opportunities out there and I just hope everything stays intact in terms of fairness and who deserves it and whos worth of it. Im a fan of the super middleweight division right now and Bute, Im a fan of his also.
Yes he did. I have it like he thinks Bute is legit and all, but doesn't think the S6 winner should fight Bute, wich is BS because there is no one out there to fight. The S6 winner must fight Bute, and if he succedes he shoud fight Kessler again.
All he is sayin is that everyone else paid their dues while Bute sat out on the sideline. He didn't work for it. Sure Bute is tallented, but it wouldn't hurt him to fight a guy like Johnson who I'm 100% sure would take that fight.
Well, Pavlik (the healthy one) and Johnson were the 2 best options for Bute, after Kessler refused to fight him. Pavlik is more marketable and is a bigger name in USA but if the rumors of Kelly drinking again are true, Johnson may receive a call. I'm sure he would take the fight but I'm sure Bute would win pretty easily. Pavlik healthy is more dangerous for Bute. He seems to punch harder. Bute is sitting on the sideline but it's not his choice and he's not happy about it.
Bute has fought guys like Bika, Andrade, Zuniga, Berrio, Miranda... actual top10 guys in his division. I wouldn't compare that to what Canelo has done.
+1 Bute lacks a top 4 opponent. He proved he was on a superior level than all the rest of the field. Haters say Bute is not good but when he destroys a top 10 to top 15 of the division, they become tomato cans. Well, no. They are not tomato cans. They are top 10 fighters in the world. If Bute beats them easily, that means he's good. Will he beat Froch or Ward? That's still to prove.
Lucian Bute has highly underrated abilities and I think after a good win over Andre Ward he will look a lot better. :bbb
Many know that he has a good uppercut but fail to realize that it might be the most dangerous uppercut out there right now. He has knocked so many of his opponents out with it and even more get knocked down.
