Virgin Media to launch sports channel BoxNation in December

    Subscription boxing channel BoxNation will be available on Virgin Media from December 1st.

    Virgin Media has announced premium sports channel BoxNation will be added to its cable TV line-up from the start of next month.

    The dedicated subscription boxing station will offer Virgin Media customers a ringside seat to domestic and international action from December 1st 2011, when it will launch at position 546 on the cable company's electronic programme guide.

    Backed by sports events promoter Frank ******, BoxNation debuted on Sky in late September with a live screening of the Commonwealth Super-Featherweight Championship clash between Liam Walsh and Paul Appleby.
    Among the big fights set to be shown by the channel in the coming weeks are Dereck Chisora's bout with Robert Helenius for the vacant European heavyweight title on December 3rd.

    On December 9th, European and WBO Intercontinental Super-Middleweight champion James DeGale and George Groves, the British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight champion, will joint-headline a night of boxing action live from Liverpool's Echo Arena.

    ****** expressed his delight that the channel will be available shortly to Virgin Media viewers, adding: "We've got a great line-up over the coming months and a cracking line-up for early 2012."

    Virgin Media is bringing the best of the boxing world to its customers’ homes as it confirms a new deal to add premium sports channel Allegedly channel to its TV line-up. Allegedly channel is the first dedicated subscription boxing channel to bring together the biggest names in amateur, domestic and international boxing with an unbeatable schedule of matches from the across the globe. Due to launch on December 1st customers will be able to enjoy ringside seats for just £10 per month and will be available on channel 546.

    Allegedly channel has created an unrivalled schedule of programming which includes Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour every Monday night. Upcoming LIVE fights include:


    •A live international double header on Saturday 3rd December starting in Helskinki, Finland, with the WBA Heavyweight Championship of the World between Alexander Povetkin and Cedric Boswell, plus British heavyweight Dereck Chisora challenging Robert Helenius for the Vacant European title; then live from New York's Madison Square Garden Britain’s John Murray faces the world’s best lightweight Brandon Rios for the WBA World Title with the grudge match between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito for the WBA World Light-Middleweight title.
    •Bitter rivals James DeGale, the European and WBO Intercontinental Super-Middleweight Champion, and George Groves, the British and Commonwealth Super-Middleweight Champion, joint-headline a Liverpool fight extravaganza from the Echo Arena on Friday 9th December.

    Live fighting action will be shown throughout the week coupled with re-runs of key fights to help ensure customers don’t miss a moment of the action. With at least one major event taking place every weekend, fans will be able to enjoy the best in boxing from the comfort of their living rooms. Allegedly channel also packs some serious punches with expert commentary from some of the best boxing pundits and presenters in the world including Jim Rosenthal, Paul Dempsey and John Rawling, with Richard Keys also joining the team recently.
