Vitali has definitely got a bit slower, you only have to take a peak at his physical prime to see that. It isn't in anyway surprising though considering his age and serious injuries incurred and time out from the sport.

He has made up for it though in other areas and knows exactly what pace he can fight at effectively. He is very comfortable in the ring and head and shoulders above anyone other than Wlad.

He would lose much more clearly to the Lewis that he lost to in 03 though.

 

I think the ref did OK considering it was a world title fight, the corner should have maybe got Briggs out of there though.

A big difference in comparing Vitali and Lewis, is that Vitali would have done to the version of David Tua that Lewis fought, what he did to Samuel Peter and Shannon Briggs (beat the crap out of them) instead of making a silent contract to hold back so that none come out hurt.deal
