    Who? Gomez?

He looked like garbage against Samil Sam! He won a wide UD, sure, but so what! So did Maskaev!

All Gomez really proved in that fight was that he has NO power at heavyweight. NONE. He threw some of the weakest pitty-pat-powder-puff punches I have ever seen from an "elite" fighter.

I've seen Gomez fight against Virchis and Bakhtov and he is not the walkover you guys make him out to be. He has good skills and handspeed. And though he has no power he will obviously not be looking to win by KO over Vitali.

He does do one thing very well that could bother Vitali and that is catch the jab with an open glove in a similar manner that Chris Byrd does.

anyways i won't be surprised if this fight goes the distance.

Only 1 fight has ever gone the distance with Vitali so I doubt that will happen.

I don't know what the line is for a Vitali UD, but I'm sure you would make a killing if your prediction came to fruition.

Gomez is going to try and use his movement and slickness.

He has no power especially against the Iron Chinned Klitschko.

I think Gomez might give Vitali a few problems at first but eventually Vitali will just walk him down and (T)KO him.

If it goes the distance Gomez deserves credit it has been forever since someone could take Klitschko to the limit.

As has been said, I don't think Gomez will get the one sided thrashing that Peter got, cause Gomez has a bit more reach, and MUCH better boxing skills than Peter. So if you look at it that way, I see it lasting longer than the Peter fight.

But on the reverse, I doubt Gomez has the chin/punch tolerance/toughness that Peter has, so in that respect, it may not last as long as Peter's fight did, seeing as how Gomez is likely to crumble once the heavy hammer shots start landing.

I take the later. I think Gomez's chin will crack and he will fall before round 6.

Vitali is going to KO Gomez anyway, looking forward to his next opponent.

Hopefully after he TKO's Gomez he can lay out Maskaev and then the WBC will allow him to fight Valuev (that's if he grows some in the mean time).

Then Wlad can try to become undisputed after Vit retires.

Gomez got laid the **** out against the goofy punching Yanqi Diaz in the 1st or 2nd round, the same Yanqi Diaz that was pounded to the canvas several times by Samuel Peter.

Gomez was a great cruiserweight, but at Heavyweight his power is limmited at best. Vitali may find it harder to hit Gomez than Peter, but I can assure you when he does, Gomez will be out like a light.

Gomez has already beaten better heavyweights than Diaz. That fight is not irrelevant today.

If they fought 10 times Yanqui Diaz would win 1 and Gomez 9.

I know that, but you cant just erase what happend when the two men fought. Gomez suffered a that lone defeat in embarassing fashion, to a lame ass fighter.

Gomez is probably one of the best Cruisers of all-time, but at Heavyweight he just dont have the power or chin to stand up to the heavy hitters of the division. I give him credit for beating up Virchis, but the guy was extremely limmited in the skills department and slow, which is why Gomez beat him so easily. Against Vitali he will have alot more to deal with, I see this one ending quickly, and it may just look like Johnson/Vitali all over again.
