Gomez has fought some heavy hitters like McCall and Virchis and his chin has held up. His chin is not as bad as it seems. Anyone can get knocked out at heavyweight if they get caught with a really good shot. People still think Lewis is glass jawed cause he got sparked by Rahman and McCall but he took Vitali's best

I cant fully disagree with you their, but McCall was like 43 when they fought and looked very sloppy as well. Other than Virchis, Gomez has not done too much at Heavy IMO. Though because of wins over both McCall and Virchis, he definitely deserves a shot at the belt. Still Vitali will probably make short work of him IMO.

look i'm not sayin Gomez is a world beater. He is top5 a very very shitty heavyweight division. However I think he would have what i takes to beat other guys like Haye, Povetkin, Chagaev, and Peter.

Fair enough, but I dont see him beating all the guys you named. I feel Haye would knockout him out in the middle rounds, Povetkin would lose on points if Gomez comes in healthy, Chagaev and him would be interesting I would say 50/50, but my money would be on Chagaev to win. Against Sam Peter, I dont know. If Peter lands something big early, Gomez will find himself laying face down on the canvas, if he is able to stay away from Peter's right hand and box him for the first 6 rounds, he will probably pull out the decision win, which would look similar to the first Peter/Toney fight, where Peter landed the heavier blows and Toney threw and landed more.

I'm a little disappointed that he is going straight for Vitali because these 2nd tier guys can all make for some interesting heavyweight action.

Fights like Haye vs Gomez, Peter vs Chagaev, Povetkin vs Dimitrenko.

Those are all good fights. However the $$ are with the Klits

It's all about the money, I cant blame Gomez though, he had did his time and fought the fights needed to get him a shot at the belt. I just hope he's ready come fight night, Vitali is a hard ass fighter beat. I'm not a big fan of his personality or that, but the man is tough and doesn't mind showing you whose boss in that ring, which I respect in him.

it is relevant. It shows he can be ko'd by a mediocre fighter in the right situation just as the Wlad Purrity fight is still relevant.

You're right and after seeing the way he lost to Diaz i might slightly favor Haye over Gomez because i feel that if you watch that fight, you can see Haye doing the same thing. But Vitali is a different style. I can't see him knocking out Gomez the way Diaz did.

This is gonna be a pretty interesting fight. It certainly won't be a walkover for Vitali as Gomez isn't your typical mandatory. He can fight.
