Vitali did well in disposing Gomez... but does anyone else think he's slowing down?

I noticed that Gomez stood up to Vitali's blows in the early and middle rounds. That scared me.

I agree with you. I thought Vitali looked fast and sharp against Sanders, who is quicker and more dangerous than Gomez.

Sanders and Gomez are both southpaws. Thus, I don't think Gomez's southpaw style was the reason Vitali looked off tonight. I fear Vitali may be getting old.

Definately Sanders was the quicker and more dangerous fighter than Gomez is in the sense that he had that lightning quick and hugely powerful left hand but overall I think Gomez is the superior boxer with better conditioning and is much more difficult to hit than defensively challenged powerpunching Sanders. That fight was a showcase for Vitali's strength in that he could easily hit Sanders with his powershots and rely on his worldclass chin to weather the south african's incoming shots.

As soon as the 1st round ended I thought "Vitali's looking older and even more awkward than usual" I had fear Gomez might actually rally and win a decision but Vitali still has a lot left, I don't see anyone in the divison beating him. i still think Vitali would stop Haye but that a Haye fight would be more competitive than the Gomez one. Vitali was able to overcome his early struggles and put in a good performance, but I fear Vitali's time at the top may be in its final stages.

You may be correct about Gomez being having better stamina, boxing skills and technique than Sanders did. Time will tell if Vitali's so-so performance tonight was due to advancing age or Gomez's skill.

I just watched the fight again on youtube.com. Interestingly, I thought Vitali looked better than when I saw the fight on live TV.

I think the fight was a showcase of Vitali ad******g to be honest. The first round he looked terrible, but as each round came and went he looked more and more comfortable in there. I'm not sure I buy it that he was getting tired, he was still throwing some pretty nasty shots in the end.

I don't think he was tiring much either. When Gomez hugged him and they both fell to the ground, Vitali got up really quick. If he was so tired, he could have taken his time getting up.

I have been comparing his old fights with his fights Vs. Peter and Gomez, Vitali looks about the same to me. He is still fast, quick, he was beating Gomez to the punch as he did Donald years ago. Vitali has speed, knows what he is doing in the ring. Great heavyweight. Commentators said that Gomez had over 300 amateur fights. Gomez would knock Haye out.

Klitschko haters are truly delusional. So many heavyweights wish they could look as good as Vitali, but they can't.

He had a difficult fighter in front of him. Give the guy credit for dominating a man who up until this fight, looked very formidable.
