    :yep

I know it sounds corny and leaves a bad taste after what became known of Margarito, but fact is that he destroyed his opponent in every win he had. The fact that he doesn't have one-punch KO power, but very heavy hands and a high workrate often leads to those fight-ruining matches. Williams got the beating of his life and never really was the same. Johnson, annihilated. Sanders took a vicious beating before the ref stopped it. Gomez was bashed around pretty bad (i think the 7th could've been scored 10 7 despite only one knockdown). Peter was ****ed up pretty bad as well.

Yes, he does beat up people. But, he is so slow. I think Haye would give him problems.

Isn't that the aim of boxing?

No doubt about it.. i think that fight would be decided early. Haye might overwhelm him (which is quite possible considering Gomez was having his way during the first round), but the older brother has a very strong chin, and if he sees through the storm, he probably grinds David down and stops him in brutal fashion around the 8th.

True, even with everyone calling his performance tonight sloppy, its still undeniable that heat physically dominated and hurt Gomez in rounds 7,8, and 9. Gomez had nothing to throw back against him, it was just became a matter of how much he could take before he crumbled or the fight was stopped.

He's not slow, but he is slowing down. The Vitali of old wouldn't have gotten hit as much as he was against Gomez and he would have landed at a much more accurate rate. Now I do think that Haye gives him some problems with his superior speed, although I still wouldn't go as far as saying Haye would actually beat Vitali. he is aging, but the man can still fight and is still a very imposing and dominant presence.

And yes, Vitali does beat his opponents thoroughly down. He takes their heart, and then takes them out.

Vitali dominated the fight and looked good at times, but Gomez really has some major flaws. I saw no right at all. He did not jab, and if he even tried a right hook I don't remember it, even though Vitali fought much of the fight with his left at his hip. Gomez showed no lateral movement, only coming forward, but doing nothing when he got inside. Is it illegal in Europe to work the body? All Gomez seemed to have offensively was an overhand left which Vitali took with no problem. It didn't look like a particularly dangerous punch to me. On the positive side, Gomez showed some moxie and enough head movement to be fairly elusive at times.

Gomez is probably better than Peter, Thompson, or Austin, but that is not saying much. I would prefer to be more generous, but this is my honest appraisal.

Vitali dominated, but I would like to see him in against someone who could actually fight back with reasonable skill and power.

And you too think that fighter is haye? I don't. Haye will make it interesting for the first 3 rounds and then klitschko takes over.
Vitali KO 6. That sweeping hook that first put down gomez is all
it would take for cheese chinned haye.

Vitali is not slow. Vitali is fast, so is Vlad. They will knock Haye out. Who in the Hell has Haye ever fought?

VK is a better defender than people want to make him out to be. He paws away shots very well with his gloves. Plus he is pretty good at staying out of range. I'm not as sold on Haye's "super-duper-power".. and Haye is sloppier than Gomez.

Yes, Gomez is a better boxer than Haye, commentators said that Gomez had over 300 amateur fights. Hide was fast also, lots of power, Haye refuses to fight Hide.

Fair point. Gomez was beaten up and visibly hurt by the end.
