Vitaly should move on. If he feels like he is in his twenties, then he chould fight on a few more years, which would surely cement his legacy even give the ppor competetion.

 

It was a nasty cut. I thought Lewis would eventually get him out of there. So, I say, yes.

VITLAY was nothing but a punch-bag in that 6th round, and that's all he'd have been for the remainder of the fight had his corner not done the wise thing and pulled him out.

I'd say Lewis would have KO'd him in the very next round anyway but it doesn't matter, he'd ****ed his face up enough for the fight to be stopped in the 3rd round, VITLAY had enough bites of the cherry to get Lewis out of there and he couldn't even make a dent. Lewis looked far more uncomfortable for me against both Briggs and Bruno in fights with them yet their fans didn't ***** and whine for years about rematches.

Lewis would have done exactly the same to VITLAY in a rematch too had it happened, it would have been Ali V Cooper 2 all over again.

 

It's threads like this which makes me wish they let the fight go on.

If that cut was caught with just a couple more blows it would have been an even more horrific sight. Vitali was game to carry on, I give him full credit for that, I even admire him for it but come on, doctors are there for a reason, any doctor would have stopped that fight.

The stoppage was unfortunate and I wish the cut never happened because it was anyones fight at the time.

 

Not really. It was VITLAYS fight at the time of the cut, and Lewis's fight from thereon after.

Same with Clay V Cooper 1. When Clay V Cooper 2 happened no-one accused Ali of being lucky to cut Henry to shreds, same would have happened in Lewis V VITLAY 2.

VITLAYS ****ing awful competition since then bears that theory out.

He will always think that, he was this close(at least in his opinion) to winning the undisputed world title, do you know how hard that is to accept mentally when things didn't go as he thought it was?. That's a mental wreck right there and he seems to have handled it very well, others would break down or even kill themselves. So his situation should be understood, it's impossible to feel it of course but should be understood. I don't think children would understand what that is about and it will show in posts within this thread.

As soon as I saw the word WITLAY I stopped reading. Lewis did his "share" of damage but he was very lucky to walk away with the W.

Lewis was finished. His nose was very badly broken, he has not gas left. Vitali would have knocked Lewis out in the next round. Angelo Dundee said that Vitali was cheated out of the WBC title that night. Lewis retired rather than fight Vitali again, he turned the largest pay day in his entire career.
