And I don't blame him a bit. Oleg looked pretty much done when he was beaten by Peter. Peter couldn't touch Vitali and ended up getting beaten like a rented mule by Vitali. The fight between Oleg and Vitali would be a one-sided beating. And please, no Arreola either. That fat **** needs to lose a bunch of weight and fight somebody good that doesn't knock him down first to even dream of being a legit contender.
I didn't think he's agree to waste time on Oleg. I guess he'll either retire, or dump the belt (unlikely) if he is forced to fight Oleg. But it is rediculous for them to even have Oleg as a mandatory, seeing as how Vitali just thrashed the guy who thrashed Oleg just before that. Rediculous. But after he fights Gomez, I can't see how they can enforce yet another mandatory, right after that. What is the reasoning there? Suliaman and the WBC are mandatory/eliminator crazy. They go overboard on it...............They sometimes have lines of them waiting.
The Heavyweight division sucks dick anymore, if lame ass fighters like Maskaev and Arreola are the best Heavyweights they can up for the Klits, somethings is seriously wrong and desperately needs fixed.
Has Vitali ever successfully defended the championship against a mandatory opponent? Or will this be his first mandatory ever? If so, then it sounds to me like Vit likes to handpick his opponent too much and really shouldn't talk.
Gomez is a mandatory. That is the problem with Boxing today these Mandatory opponents are garbage 98% of the time and they block other good fights like unification.
What's hilarious is that people read news like this... the WBC trying to force Vitali into back to back mandatories against Gomez and Maskaev.... and those same people still act like we need someone to collect all of the belts. The belts don't mean ****! Wladimir Klitschko is the true Champion of the division right now. Nobody else in the division even comes close to what Wlad has done in his last 10 fights. I am not saying that it doesn't mean anything for a person to win a world title. What I am saying is that we should know by now that it is just about impossible for ANYONE to unify all of the titles when they are spread out. A unification fight can never be forced, because the Champions of the 4 major titles can't be mandatory fights. So, then what we end up with is Champions who have promoters that want to milk the title for all it's worth, and organizations that do not want to grant unification fights because they want to be able to sanction all of those title fights, and title eliminator bouts. Why do you think that as soon as someone gathers all of the belts, they now make him "Super-Champ"... and then create "regular Champs". It's just ******ed. The Champions makes the belt, the belt doesn't make the Champ. Wlad's the true Champ, and the rest are contenders.
nice avatar...Who nex! :yep Maskaev getting a madatory shot cause the WBC treated him like **** in the Peter buildup is bull****. if anything, they should agree on a monetary settlement and spare maskaev a beating. clogging up the division with horse**** fights is not a good thing. Moreover, Maskaev has his shot at wlad for unification and he turned it down to fight Peter Okhello :yep Vitali would then be free to decapitate Haye if the Wlad doesn't get to him first or pursue the salvaging of the wba strap from superfrauds Chagaev/Valuev.
It says on ESPN that Vitali would rather fight Haye or Arreola in the Summer rather than Maskaev. Those would be much better fights for the Division than watching Vitali pound on Maskaev.
my god, arreola is tailor-made for Vitali with that come-forward, swiss cheese defense attack. what a beating he would get. Vit would counter him to death. Could be a Danny Williams repeat but I don't think Nips has that kind of chin. love to see it :yep
Thats exactly right, and until we get a few fighters and promoters that have the balls without the greed to make a unification bracket after they win the 4 major belts then we will never see a unified HW champion again. If Wladimir wants to give back to the sport that made him rich then he should be working his ass off to try to make unification bouts with Valuev and Vitali, and if he doesnt want to fight his brother then fine I understand that. He should then wait for Vitali to retire or if he is defeated by another fighter, then go after his strap. No one has made any serious attempts to completely unify the HW championships. Wlad started by taking Sultan's belt but since then he hasnt made any effort to continue unification.
Arreola being seen as a legit top five contender is as rediculous as Oleg getting a title shot. And serious attempts have been made to further unify, but King/Valuev won't agree. Nor would Chagaev/Kohl.
