Now this interview is from last year before he fought briggs.

His views on losing the WBO title against Chris Byrd:

“It was not an easy fight. Chris Byrd has a special style and it was not easy to get him. In the second round I had a tough round. I had a pain in my shoulder and every round the pain grew more and more and more. I remember I moved my left arm and it was so painful it was like having a fork in my eye. I couldn’t see and I was very close to losing control because this was after the pain had become too painful. I stopped the fight in round ten. After this fight I took a lot of criticism from boxing experts. ‘How can a world champion stop the fight?’ So everyone understands how it’s like running without one leg and not everybody can understand how a boxer cannot fight with one arm. It was a really big problem in my career because many boxing experts said, ‘Vitali Klitschko will never be world champion, he has no heart’. This was really painful to listen to that. Three years I spent to get in form, and I actually had a chance to fight Lennox Lewis. I showed my heart, I showed my performance, and I actually beat Lennox by points in six rounds but the doctor stopped the fight because I had a huge gash on my eye. I was very happy when Jim Lampley commented after the fight and told me sorry for his words a couple of years ago. He said he didn’t believe I had an injury in my shoulder, but right now that he knows my skills were good. I always show my performance, show my skills, show my heart. I always show that I am the best one and I am the strongest one. In this fight against Lennox Lewis I did not win but I won the hearts of many people who watched the fight and I showed my skills. I want to thank Lennox Lewis for giving me a chance to prove my boxing skills and to show my heart.”

On whether he ever regretted the decision following the Byrd fight or whether he believes he made the right choice in stopping the fight to prevent permanent injury:

“Right now actually it was eleven years ago. I am more than sure I made the right decision because I was very close to go, not out—not from my opponent, but from the pain that I had. I couldn’t see and the pain it was not from my opponents. The pain stopped me because I couldn’t see my opponent because I had a huge problem with my shoulder. Right now it was eleven years ago, and I am than sure this was the right decision.”

Didn't Floyd have the same injury in his first fight against Castillo?

Vitali actually managed to win neutral stats with me after many years but that all went to **** when I saw him exposing himself as a hypocrite when he shouted at Solis doubting his career threatning injury.

I thought he later said he thought Solis was faking it and if it was a real injury then he understood, something like that.

yeah but rotator cuff injuries can vary in severity. I had my left rotator cuffed screwed up for a while, but it's healthy now, but not 100 %

Solis fell from a good punch, Byrd didn't even land 1 good shot the entire night...

People, for **** sakes, even great fighters sometimes trip over their cocks....... Ali did it in 1980 against Holmes; Duran down in New Orleans against Leonard & V.K. against Byrd in 2000....

I remember when this happened.............Vitali had surgery for over 2.5 hours, sent us a picture of him with huge cast on. We had Klitschko boxing site from Kiev which was owned by Danilo. We knew what happened, but America boxing media lied through their teeth.....................Vitali has more than proven himself, not only as a great boxer champion, but as a great kickboxing champion. Yes, Vitali was a six time world kickboxing champion superheavyweight division both pro and amateur. Vitali loves to fight, he did both at same time always gave good performance. Buddy McGirt waited too long about his shoulder injury, which ended his career. Some will always hate Klitschkos because they are so good, but they are the very best!!!!!!! I am glad Vitali made the right decision because if he had not it probably would have ended him career...............

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH! Its amazing you can type with the Big bros dick in your mouth! Man i have watched the end of that fight every time I hear this BS and have yet to see him have any problems with it. in fact they were extremely rough taking his glove off at the end so they could not be all that worried. Other fighters have fought with a lot worse shoulder injuries than that and have KOed or out boxed their foe. Just at admit it big V pulled a "no mas"

As for the LL fight He knew his face was almost on the mat . . . his BS protest at the end! he knew if he quite again he would lose 100% of his credibility. As I hear from all his fans the Big V is no dummy, he knew he could have lost an eye that night but he had to make it seem good.

I do not hate either bros because they are so good . . . because they are not . . . I hate them because their fans are the dumbest ****s on the planet and and they think Big V could beat Jesus!

So, it really hurt... and Vitali gave up.

    Nothing we didn't already know.

I watched Danny Williams fight with a dislocated shoulder and still knock out his opponent having used one arm for about three rounds!

    Now that's balls!

I had to laugh at this:

"I actually beat Lennox by points in six rounds but the doctor stopped the fight".

Yes, because you couldn't defend yourself!

Vitali now 11 years later is a world champ and his shoulder is healthy, he clearly made the right decision.
