Apologies if this comparison has been made before, but in watching Vitali dismantle Sosnowski, and looking at the size mismatch, I found myself thinking Vitali's style of fighting is quite similar to Froch's, but the main difference being that Froch has to fight other people the same "size" as him.

However, if Froch was allowed to come into the ring at 168 and everyone else had to make 147, would Froch be any less dominant than Vitali?

This is more an observation than any criticism of Vitali, but I thought this might make for any interesting topic of conversation, or maybe not. :D

I'd say Vitali judges distance a bit better, but it's actually not a bad comparison. Vitali was horrible last night, worst performance of his career.

Interesting comparison. That's a reason why I think Haye beats him. He leans in with his chin, keeps his hands too low, waiting for someone as fast as Haye to pop him. Not a good idea.

I'd favor certain welterweights over Froch. :think

Only great ones, mind you. Martinez? Yeah. I'm confident in that. It's not he oxycodone talking, no.

Give all those people the same body fat % as Vitali and other than Lennox Lewis, their smallness by comparison shows up.

Adding fat to a smaller guy is not going to help him against a bigger guy.

I guess many of you have not seen Vitaly's fights from 2000-2003. His fights against Hoffmann, Purritty, Bean or Donald went in pretty much the same fashion. Vitaly can perform a lot a better and he is more tuned up if he is facing a more famous opponent, perhaps on HBO. Remember, Johnson, Sanders, Williams, Lewis, Arreola, Hyde and Peter are his best performances.

Yep. You're on point man. Vit isn't particularly skilled he mainly has a size advantage. Definitely not an exceptionally talented large sized athlete relative to what exists on the planet currently.

Haha I don't think so, the last comparisson I heard was that of a giant Calzaghe because he slapped Sosnowski into a KO victory according to many on this board :D

Froch and Vitali have a similar stance all right, but I don't think they are very similar apart from that: Froch is pretty wild somethimes and tends to lunge in on people from war away while Vitali is very measured and always seems in control. People always point to his size advantage and he has that for sure. But remember as well that he is very well coordinated and pretty athletic for his size. His defense is also an underrated aspect in my oppinion. This is the difference between him and the other big guys like Dimitrenko and Valuev.

Vitali didnt look over impressive, a tad sluggish.

I dont think he should go near Haye, would be
a silly move - especially when his brother is the
better fighter atm and should beat Haye.

Vitali can continue fighting whats left in the division,
keep adding to the retirement fund until someone half
decent knocks him off his perch.

I dont think Vitali is going that well, its just that the
division is so weak that theres not much out there that
beats him - other than Wlad and Haye, which takes care
    of itself.

Imagine how much bigger the fight would be if Haye beat Vitali, then fights Wlad.

Obviously then one would be running with the story of can Wlad avenge Vitali's defeat.
