While his achievements and resume don't put him close to top ten, he is very formidable in the H-2-H consideration. He aquitted himself well against his only serious challenge and that was a top five ATG, admittedly at the end of his prime. Ali lost to Norton. Lewis to Rahman. Tyson to Douglas Louis to Schmeling etc. So any great can lose on a given night. But taking BOTH boxers at their best for this thought experiment, I don't think there's been ten who would have beaten Vitali. H-2-H, I have him comfortably in the top ten. Pity he wasn't tested more rigorously.
Interesting. Yeah I guess he could capitalize on what you say. On the other hand this separated punches style seems to serve him well along with good reflexes. So maybe he doesn't need combos much. More significant jab and using his size better seems to be almost necessary with the likes of Tyson though. And would help a lot with Lewis probably.
He is strong all around as you mention. However, he has one flaw which will always attract some "no" votes: He is white (and whites who think blacks are superior, or blacks will always say no.).
Yeah his face was injured by Lennox's fist and he quite like a ***** versus Byrd. Tyrell Briggs beat a man with only one arm for most of a fight VK quite on his stool. If you look at fighters at their peak I see more than 10 guys who could beat him off of the top of my head . . . 1) Ali 2) tyson 3) Forman 4) Lennox 5) Ike 6) Bowe 7) Holmes 8) Louis 9) Ruddock 10) Norton ( I was kidding about Cooney earlier but Golota who was beating bowe would be a tough fight for almost anyone) There are a dozen more that would hand him his ass. Yes, he has solid technique (robotic and predictible but effective) and size (which you cannot take away from him no more than you can take away Jordan's verticle leaping ability). Given these two points I cannot see him as anything more than a contender in any other era ( well he would beat rocky because the size difference would be to great. I see this whole thread as a way for KBros fans trying to ingrain the greatness of their boys by constantly repeating their claims. Greatness in Klitchko = WMD in Iraq
V.K. is a bad dude in the ring. 'Nuff said.. Racial slander or not, it is mainly "Homies" from the hood and aging "Old Farts" who **** and **** all over the "K" brothers... A high percentage of fight fans with knowledge and are between ages 25 to 50 yrs of age will generally agree that V.K. is a ring great at heavyweight.... Cheers.... MR.BILL:good:hey:bbb
I'm no holds barred.... Straight shooter down the pike....... I tell it like it is....... Too many folks today are wishy-washy and are afraid to speak their mind freely.... I'd rather get spoon fed harsh reality rather than that of bull**** fantasy...... WORD! MR.BILL
I don't wish to sound negative but **** ME!!! How is he an ATG - name his career defining fights such as Ali vs Foreman, Ali vs Frazier, Louis vs Schmelling, Holmes vs Shavers, etc, etc; atschatschatschatsch
Yeah, putting him inthe top 10 all time is pretty ridiculous. He lost a rpime fight against Chris Byrd and got stopped by a vbery old Lennox Lewis. His has no career defining wins and has can't even be comfortably called the best heavyweight of his era. He will also go done as a heavyweight who has prime losses and did not avenge them, which hurts. He is boderline top 20, at best. Keith
This is H2H - who you imagine would beat him in the ring, at their best, lets say, more than 5 /10 times. Are there 10 that would? Read the title carefully before posting ffsatsch
Ali tyson Johnson Marciano Lewis Bowe Golota Holmes Frazier Foreman Liston Louis Dempsey Tunney Off the top of my head. Keith
Tyson, Ali, Lewis, maybe Holmes and Foreman are pretty understandable but Dempsey??, Marciano?? (not only them of your list) come on... Are you in love with the old times? Love is blind as they say..
