Vitali would ****ing destroy Joe Louis... if you dont think so , you are denying physics and are a complete nostaglic ignoramus. same with Marciano, Frazier, Dempsey and Tunney... Liston maybe has a shot... but every one else considered in the top ten ever I would favor over Vitali.... THIS IS THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER END OF THREAT.

Dempsey would have trouble, but I would still make him the favorite.

Marciano would be in Vitali's chest all day, and Marciano woudln't quit if he got hurt. That would be a long night for Vitali.

I would definately rate him in the top 10
H2h, Lewis, Holmes, Ali, Marciano, Dempsey, and Tyson, may possibly beat Vitali.

Yes but this was out of his control. He had major shoulder surgery after the Byrd fight, and there was no real need for a rematch, because the first fight showed who the better fighter was.

And he was obsessed with getting a Lewis rematch, Lennox wanted no part of it and fair enough.

No the first fight showed Byrd could take every thing Vitali had (Something he could not do with a fighter like Ibeabuchi) and go on to win latter rounds and outlast Vitali.

Regardless of circumstances ha has avenges none of his losses.

Just a fact that should be noted.

Byrd was miles behind on the scorecards, could not win a decision, and realistically was not going to KO Vitali late.

If a healthy Vitali showed up for a rematch 6 months later, do you honestly predict any result other than Vitali by UD/late stoppage?

Lennox retired to avoid a rematch with Vitali (the correct move for him and no stain on his legacy at all), had they rematched, Vitali would have gone in as the betting favourite.

He didn't avenge either loss no, but neither did he truly fail to avenge them. Byrd especially, a rematch was not required as say Rahman was for Lewis. It's not as good as rematching and winning by KO Lewis style, but it's not a huge smear on his record. It's not good, but it's not as much of a black mark as Wlad not avenging himself vs Sanders or Purrity, who both defeated Wlad much more convincingly than either Byrd or Lewis did to Vitali.

    Is he better than

    Ali
    Louis
    Dempsey
    Marciano
    Lewis
    Liston
    Holyfield
    Tyson
    Langford
    Holmes
    Frazier
    Foreman
    Tunney
    Johnson

    etc etc?

I don't think so. Vitali is top 15 though, I think.

What was the point in avenging Byrd loss? How could Byrd win this fight if not Vitali's injury? How could he rematch Lewis if he couldn't?

We don't talk about his overall legacy besides. That's the point - note your fact somewhere else please. I'm sorry but you seem delusional if you put all that bunch before him H2H. How on earth would Marciano or Dempsey beat him? And Golota would quit or fouled himself out. That are the most glaring cases from your list, won't mention others. Man, are you serious?

He didn't need to win a decision, he won by stoppage, which you do when behind on the scorecards. You gut it out and hope it goes your way. Which it did. All Vitali had to do was nut it up like many fighters before him, and he probably wins. But he didn't.
You can make excuses all you want, but my point is irrefutable. He has never avenged a loss.
