    first off i like vitali
but i dont think he is a super all time great
but would be a good heavyweight in any era

so lets that out of the way

i saw a few threads where people said he is clumsy(he is kind of lol)
and that he has bad foot work or that his legs are shot

    this llaughable
    he has wonderful footwork

it is one of the reasons he gets away with leaning back,

because he combines this with great in and out movement
    and side stepping.

which is done differently in the russian school of boxing then
    american.
and i dont think a lot of people understand that

also if he leaned back with out in and out movement
he would cracked with tons of left hooks because his hands are down
height is not as much of a deal as you think
here because long hooks- and over hands land the best when the guy
    leans back...they need the space....

    this video may help

He doesn't have good footwork, he has poor footwork, he does have good control of range though and has the stamina to maintain his control of range. Peter has terrible footwork too and simply plods forward

Vitali's footwork is akin to the elder version of Juan Manuel Marquez, imo. The mobility, foot-speed, coordination ain't all that good, but he very much knows where and when to step. He's a very conscientious fighter. That's all. I think you're also likely reading a poster named Jack or Koman600, in the general forum? They're deliberately baiting Klitschko fanatics. It's safe to ignore them.

At best his footwork is OKAY. If his footwork was great he would have been out of range of Ademek's body-to-head jabs, or nearly any punch for that matter. If anything his punch accuracy should be noted over that of his footwork.

if he had poor footwork, he would not get out of the way of so many shots

his fight with chris arrerola is another example

I don't agree. It is passable for a man of his height though. If he were a few inches shorter, he would get hit a lot though.

best footwork in that fight was him trying to kick lewis, and stumbling across the ring when they were hanging on to each other. what do you think wladmir thinks of his eye?

neither Klitchko is very fluid. They are big and they keep their feet wide apart.

His footwork is sloppy and clumsy. This is not too much of a problem because he is very good at controlling rage with the jab and at calculating his forwards and backwards steps to coincide with his jab and maintain range.

When some one manages to compromise his range with some pressure notice how it looks like he is stumbling and tripping backwards because he has no time to work the jab and position himself correctly.

NO he hasnt got good footwork, what he is good at is controlling range and bossing fights with his huge frame, incredible punch accuracy, and a high workrate. He's got some good attributes no doubt, but foot work is not one of them. Wlad on the other hand, for a big guy his footwork is Terrific.

I barely pay attention to his feet, its his head movement and stiff punches from every possible angle that seem to baffle his opponents the most.
