Vitali: I would have knocked Lewis out if the ref would have let the fight continue

I'll go on the record and say there was NO WAY he would win after the damage had been done.

Lets be realistic....in round 7, Lewis would target that eye like a laser and just make it worse. Vitali would need an immediate KO to win. And it's highly doubtful he'd get it in the very next round.

No Byrd did not stop Vitali as you put it, Vitali retired while comfortably ahead on the cards due to an injury to his rotator cuff. That is a very painful & possibly career ending injury that required well documented surgery to repair.

He went on to win the WBC Heavyweight title so I guess he made the right decision no? :D

Its a 100% moot point, the fight was justly stopped.

Winning 4 of 6 rounds and getting stopped halfway through the fight is still a decisive loss.

Opening a cut with legal punches, turning that cut into a bloody mess that meets the criteria for a fight stopping cut with legal punches, is as legit of a way of winning a fight as any other.

Vitali was stopped due to injuries sustained from fighting Byrd. They would NOT have happened out of the blue, or even against anyone else.

Too often Vitali Fans make it sound as if Byrd had nothing to do with the stoppage.

Of course it was a legit TKO stoppage due to cuts.

Also true but once again, to say "Byrd stopped Vitali" or "Byrd KO'd Vitali" is not telling the truth & these guys know it.

How is saying "Byrd stopped Vitali" NOT telling the truth? Besides, if someone is going use a vague term like "STOPPING", simply ask them to clarify. You're right about the next he TKO'd him, not KO'd.

There was no re-match . I still think if Vitali beats Peter, he will ask Lewis for a re-match. Its business. I also think the two get alone ok outside of the ring.

Vitali was just moments away from getting KOed by Lewis.

That Fight Was Years Ago And He Needs To Move On. He Will Never Be At That Level Again. Besides, He Lost That Fight!! Him And His Fans Need To Pay Attention To The Fact That He Was **** Before That Fight And He's **** After It. Maybe If He Can Make It Through A Training Camp Without Getting "injured", Maybe He Could Have Been More. He's Gotten More Credit For Losing Than Most Fighters Have For Winning. I Thought He Was Gone For Good, But Now He's Back. Hopefully, He Gets Hurt Again And Leaves And Never Comes Back. The heavyweight Division is Crap And He's Making It Worse.

I think that all of these Klitschko fans believe that Lewis tko'd Vitali by a nasty cut. Some of you think that the heavyweight division is a disgrace, why? What has to happen to make it better? They have fighting who they have fighting. Would you all be happy if Vlad lost. Would that make it better? What if he lost to Povetkin? or Valuev would that make it better? Or does someone like David Haye have to beat him to make it better?

I can't help but laugh at you guys who are getting riled up over Vitali merely saying he'd have KOed Lewis. Lewis said the EXACT same thing, even though he was behind on all three cards.

But that is a moot point, cause fighters are expected to, and supposed to, express supreme confidence in themselves and to convey that they would have won any controversial fight stoppage.

Its what fighters do, for cryin out loud!.

What do you expect Vitali to say, I think Lewis was about to KO me, as I was wearing down and didn't have anything left............LOL That won't promote his business; himself. A fighter is supposed to SELL and PROMOTE their business, and that means to convey the best outcome on all controversial stoppages.

So what did Byrd do? All Byrd did is get beat up until VitKlit quit. I could have beat Klit that night.

Vitali only beats those he can overwhelm. He does have considerable size and power.

In fact his corner must have wanted to pull him out, they were putting butterfly stitches on the cuts before the ref even called it. He must've been really out of it not to have noticed
