In response to this thread: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134228 I would like to be the lone dissenting voice and say that Big Klit is going to be around for awhile. He has a similar skill set and motivation to George Forman. Skill set: much bigger than most opponents, iron chin and heavy fists. Power is the last thing to leave. Much like big George, he was never that fast in the first place, so who cares if he looses a step.. Motivation: Chasing a dragon. George could never let his unavenged defeat to Ali go, and neither can Vitali forget Lennox.. Some people sight injuries or declining performance as evidence that he is on his way out- he stopped two top ten contenders while losing one round sine his comeback, so it seems to me he has learned to cope with his injuries. Some note his political ambitions- this was a failure and he knows it. There is nothing here for him. And as for those who think that Haye, or Arreola, or some other future journeyman of the month is going to beat him- Vitali has the skills to beat anyone in the division now and for a long ttime to come, and everyone knows that whether they admit it or not. I am no nutthugger. I like the Klits, but Lennox was my man, and I am also a fan of Brewster, so I have cheered for the guy on the other side of the ring, too. I am just telling it like it is.
I think Vitali will most likely be on the decline in the next couple years but other than that the only thing stopping him is injury, Vitali should be champ for a while if he continues to stay where he's at.
Some of you seem to have taken my thread the wrong way. I made that thread in response to the people that constantly think that Vitali is going to be beaten by whomever he's readying to fight at a given time. People thought Peter, Carlos, and now Arreola were going to beat Vitali. I made that thread as a way of saying " no, Vitali's going to lose to father time before ever losing to one of the many slobs in today's HW division ".
In that case, my apologies. We are in agreement. Vitaly has a lot of years left if he wants them, IMO.
I think Vitali is trying to get WBA title before he retires for good. So far Vitali is looking good. He used to fight a kick boxing fight, then go fight a boxing match! He loves to fight, used to fight for free! Most of his injuries came from his kickboxing days. He was a six time world kickboxing champion, both pro and amateur, not to mention his boxing career, both pro and amateur.
Vitali is so effective with his style though. Vitali's style is a little robotic but it is one of the most effective styles for a man his size.
he isnt gonna be around that much longer, what is he, 38? ill give him a year or 2 before he hangs em up.
Don't know, I think Vitali is not thinking of fighting past the year of 2010, which means 4-5 fights more at the most. he should have a couple more this year. Once he gets to unify the WBA belt he would probably only stay if there is a big fight out there available, if not he will proceed to set up something to pass on to his brother his belts.
