So first we had Danny Williams is a modern day George Foreman. Now we got Kingpin compared with Holmes. Bremen u and Bubby should marry then you can talk **** together forever.
So Holmes, which I am a big fan of, struggles with green Witherspoon and the rest of the 70/80's company, lol, some of those guys barely turned pro and now he is going to stop a guy who was never down, never stopped , took blind Lewis uppercuts and kept on ticking, hardly ever lost a round in his career, at a advanced age still dominates the top competition and is clearly at least the number two right now while Holmes claim to fame is at that age getting laid out by Tyson and lasting the distance with Holyfield and loosing to the very limited, clowning around McCall...............I know he was not prime but still VK is a , love him or hate him, a ****ing excellent fighter who will give ANYBODY, win or loose a big puzzle to solve. I take VK in this one.
Not everyone said Holmes would stop him. The common consenseus is that if he did it would be on cuts.
THe guy got cut in ONE fight.............against a fighter who fights totally different than Holmes, not even close.............I guess you don't do much gambling because betting on that statistic alone is the best way to get fleeced of your money. I don't have a problem if you see a Holmes points victory, by all means it could be but he ain't stopping VK on cuts.
Holmes was one of my favorites of all time, gotta pick him. Let's save time and put me down as a automatic vote for Holmes for all future H2H heavyweight questions. thanks
Here mate i picked him to win on points. I was just pointing out that's how most see a stoppage occurring. It isn't inconcievable to think Larry could win on cuts is it.
Well Chisora is bigger, and he was able to last 12 rounds with VK, so he has to be better than little old Frazier. Their words not mine. Keith
First, and I never said than Kingpin is better than Holmes, but he has a good jab and he is reasonably fast. Yet, his jab was ineffective (20%) and Vitali was able to crowd and swarm him and pull the trigger on power punches. Second, Vitali averaged 100 punches/round against Johnson which is insane workrate for HW. I don't really recall Holmes being that busy. Third, Holmes struggled again defensive boxers: Norton, Witherspoon, Spinks.
Not inconceivable but I think any stoppage win would boil down to physical exhaustion more than anything else (cuts, torn rotator cuff, etc). You dont have to like Vitali, his style, or perception of opposition, but there's no doubt the man can take a good shot and then some. There's no doubt at a lean 245-250 lbs and that type of power, he causes issues for many a great heavyweights H2H. A Foreman that was just over 220 or Liston who was under that are given super-human qualities by more than a few in hypothetical H2H debates.
