in a Super Six tournament with:
    Larry Holmes
    Muhammad Ali
    George Foreman
    Lennox Lewis
    Joe Louis

Who wins? ...remember "styles makes fights"

I would give vitali a shot in all of those fights. I think lennox lewis would be his hardest fight. Vitali has got a style like no one has ever seen. Plus his size makes it makes it that much worse. Vitali has really never been beat or knocked down. He has become a much better fight since he fought lewis which I think he made a mistake taking that fight on two weeks notice. He needed more time to prepare for a all time great fighter like lewis. Damn I wish vitali was about 28 or so. But I think wlad loses to everyone on that list by ko.

im really considering making a poll on whos a bigger klitschko nut hugger out of time lost, mr bill, and farmboxer:shock:

  5. The final 2 standing would be Prime Ali against the prime Holmes...
I think Ali would win a razor decision...
Prime Foreman would ko Prime Lewis..
And we already saw a past prime chubby Lewis stop prime Vitali:deal..
Louis would lose to all of them at 6 feet 200lbs just to little..:-(

Prime VK matches-up favorably against all of them. I would expect him to win each fight, but you never know.

Don't know about the rest of the fights, but there's no way Vitali gets passed Ali. He's too slow on his feet and with his hands and can't hit a moving target. Also, Ali is too accurate and Vitali doesn't react very well to being hit.

Prime Vitali vs Prime Lewis is the fight I'd love to see the most because they're two big, strong heavyweights with great jaws (when Lewis isn't being a dozey *****) who utilise their size advantage to win fights, in this fight, you'd see them have to outbox a similar sized man.

George Foreman doesn't match up well against Klitschko in my view, Foreman worked to the body in a very slow manner and would leave himself open to be hit all night, I just don't see it working well for him - I think he'd go very close against Wlad, but Vitali has a style that would make it hard for George.

Joe Louis and Larry Holmes would be the bottom two in this tournament, in any case.

Mohammad Ali? maybe he finds a sense of inspiration to overcome the odds, but in both Lewis and Vitali's case, the odds are stacked very high against any version of Ali.

I'd give Vitali a shot at beating Foreman and Louis.

But Ali, Holmes and Lewis all find a way to beat him.

Vitali has a chance in all those fights in my opinion. He's awkward, has great stamina(does a great job of fooling opponents into thinking he's tired), excellent power and defense.

I agree, people under-rate his stamina and the ability he has to find angles to hit you with. He's been in there with cagey fighters before and still managed to land on them at will.

Got to give kudos to a guy who has only ever lost owing to injury/cuts too. He was never physically beaten by another man in the ring.

Ali gets hyped due to nostalgia to a level that no one wants to compete against, and as such, you get guys like Foreman who get hyped up to that level due to the war they had with Ali - in my view, Ali mixes OK with these guys but I would probably see him come third or fourth in the tournament.

I think Foreman has a better chance against Klitschko and Lewis than Ali does, I think Holmes really would get busted up by anyone of these fighters except Louis.

the way you describe vitali klitschko, one would think your describing a HW version of pernell whittaker if they didnt know who he was. vitali klitschko is none of the things you describe him as. for one thing he's slow, TOO slow for the likes of any of these fighters. his punches are slow, telegraphed, and thrown from awkward angles that any of these fighters could see coming from a mile away. and his footwork is sub-par at best, stalking type fighters such as louis would capatilize on this serious fault in vitali's game plan.

    Well, well.

I rank Vitali in the top 10 alltime head to head, but not in terms of greatness (accomplishment, resume etc).

However, my top ten Alltime list starts with

    1 Ali
    2 Louis
    3 Lewis, Foreman

    5 Marciano, Holmes

And all of your 'super-six' guys are on that list.

So while Vitali might win one or two bouts,
I think he would probably finish last out of that group.

In ANY other group you could suggest, barring injuries, I would probably pick him to come first.

And you're right about him being the better Klitschko.

It would be Lewis, Vitaly or Ali.

It doesn't mean that Holmes and Foremen were not as accomplished or even more accomplished - but sports improve and current boxers will almost always beat past boxers if they met up like that.
