Louis usually was poison against big men. Baer and Simon were the size of Vitali and Carnera was slightly bigger. That said, Vitali would be better skilled than all 3, but I don't know about stronger than the above named.

Louis was 196 pounds vs Carenera who was 260ish pounds
201 lbs vs 237 lbs Buddy Baer 1st Meeting

206 lbs vs 250 lbs Buddy Baer 2nd meeting
    http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Joe_Louis_vs._Buddy_Baer_(2nd_meeting)
207 lbs vs 255 pound Abe Simon 2nd meeting

I put the weights down so no one would say Louis would be too small for Vitali. And rememeber, Vitali was rocked by Corrie Sanders. Yes Sanders was a southpaw and about 230 pounds, but he wasn't a chiseled in shape 230 pounds either. If he had no noticeable fat on him, he'd be closer to Louis weight. So Louis likely could hurt Vitali.

But anyway, would this giant be too much for Louis to topple or does Louis send Vitali to go sit with Buddy Baer, Abe Simon and Primo Carnera as just another giant he slew?

I think the size isn't problem but Vitali has a -overrated- but very solid chin compared to Carnera.

The 3 giants above couldn't compare with Vitali for athleticism, stamina, workrate, chin. I just can't see Louis having the tools to overcome the above with such a size disadvantage.

Vitali should never be in the ring with a true elite.

Yeah but Vitali has had trouble with lesser fighters before. None possessing the ATG skill set and punching power of a prime Joe Louis. I think Louis hit hard enough, especially in combinations to crack Vitali's chin.

You're a joke. Maybe you should know that Joe Louis, who certainly was a great in his time is 3-4 vs Schemling, M. Baer, Walcott, Charles and Marciano, if you correctly give Walcott the 1st fight which 2/3 at ringside did.

Those were the best Louis fought. He was floored by the likes of Braddock, and Galento and lost more rounds than won vs the best boxers he faced.

Joe's likely not winning this one as his defense, balance, slow feet, height, reach weight are not enough to off set Vitali's skills, size advantage and style. Vitali's jab alone and superior mobility / reach could easily put Louis in a zone where he be hit, but not land much. Watch the films and you might learn.

While Louis has a puncher's chance, he's facing someone who was never floored in his entire career so that chance is diminished. Vitali's power in those 6 ounce gloves would be even better. Or use 12 oz gloves and Louis would not hit quite as hard.

Vitali was hard to hit. He was seldom if ever hit by combinations. Which lesser fighter did Vitali have trouble with? He lost no more than 3 rounds on any card in all of his professional fights. That is a fact.

Louis? He lost far more than that to many lesser men. Tommy Farr for example likely won 5-6 rounds vs Louis, and if you watch the first fight with Godoy, he wins more than 3 rounds easily. Heck, Billy Conn, less than 170 pounds was in the lead after 12 rounds over Louis, and in fact stunned him!

Vitali's lowguard and leaning back defence may work against rather slow fighters who throw one punch at a time but would be his downfall against a rather fast combination puncher like Louis. Joe TKO9

According to Title Bout Championship Boxing - Which again means nothing, but I like playing with it so why not -

12 Rounds, both fighters in prime of their career and in top condition

Round 1 - Louis big first round.

Round 2 - Klitchko nipped the round

Round 3 - Close exciting round that Louid might have won.

Round 4 - Louis down near the end of the round and up at the count of 4. He survives the round

Round 5 - Good comeback round by Louis, not much happened but he probably took the round

Round 6 - Klitschko won the round with a big right cross that hurt Louis

Round 7 - Big round for Louis, and he actually had Klitschko rocked

Round 8 - Huge round for Louis, the ref even thought about stopping it

Round 9 - Louis cut over the right eye. The doctor examines it and allows the fight to continue. Klitschko's round

Round 10 - Klitschko is down! He survives the round

Round 11 - Another big round for Louis

Round 12 - Klitschko down again! He survives the round

Judges Decision - 115-107, 115-108, 116-106, Your Winner Joe Louis

My Opinion - Do I think Louis would be the first one to ever knock Vitali down like this game? No, do I think he could win the fight late? Possible. However, and maybe it's a product of my generation, but I tend to lean towards the bigger more modern day fighters in these mythical matchups. I think Vitali could stop Louis late in this one.

The hell they can't. Carnera is at least as fast and athletic as Klistchko. Baer probably hits as hard if not harder.
