Sad, but true, Vitali did retire Lewis, it is so simple you dumb asses, if you so sure you can win a rematch and make $20000000 if not more, then you don't retire.
He was worried to loose and fack his legacy up, and the only choice he had was to retire, simples.
Use your brain sells if you have any.

money trumps legacy every day of the week. thats nice for your story book....lewis wasnt hungry anymore and had more money than he could spend.....at no point did he think he could lose...he beat vitali up in the first fight...throw out the cuts...vitali was losing.....

Does anyone think that if Lewis was 28 in the Vitali fight he would have retired.

No he obviously retired cos he was too old - He knew he had lost a lot of his abilities when he had to dig so deep to beat prime Vitali - Because he clearly knew that a peak Lennox would have taken Vitali out within 3 rounds.
Vitali knew this, he was in the right place at the right time to take Lewis and he couldnt so he wanted a second bite of the cherry.
Vitali is now at Lewis' age [when they fought] and has slowed down considerably - Should he be forced to carry on fighting when he knows he hasnt got it anymore??

Oh great.Another Vitali/Lewis thread. One Lennox wasn't even in shape. 2 Vitali was a shoe in. 3 Lennox was getting beat at first but he showed he was a true champion and started to land bomb after bomb on Vitali.4. That huge uppercut that Lennox landed on Vitali made him 2 inches taller. Lennox retired because he lacked hunger and motivation. Vitalis best shot was that night and he was well off to getting KTFO. He's lucky the fight was stopped.

What's your point? What does that have anything to do with Lewis wanting to retire because he didn't have the hunger anymore?

Yes I followed his career. And it was clear that he was past his best, whether he had the extra pounds on or not.

Why do people compare a boxer's age to another boxer who carried on longer? Almost every boxer peaks at different points in their career. Some peak early, some peak late...some retire early, some retire later than the average boxer. Lewis was 37...that is old for a boxer, especially when said boxer has an impressive amateur background aswell.

hes a bum because he has no wins on his record against anyone worth a ****. hes a bum because he didnt train and was a fat ass.
so johnson doesnt suck or never did because he was hyped by HBO instead of what he did in the ring? so tell me , what has johnson done to be a great win ? save you some time...nothing.

The Klit girls can only get on their knees and smell Lewis's jock strap.
They are too talent weak to carry it.

I'd be willing to bet Lewis would have retired WHOEVER he fought and whatever the outcome. He just didn't have it anymore, he knew it, Manny knew it, the world knew it.

    Vitali is just butt hurt.

Vitali can have whatever delusions he wants, Lewis was likely very close to retirement anyway as he wasn't motivated to be in prime shape for the fight.

The bottom line is it says he lost by TKO.

    Of course!!

and here was me thinking it had nothing to do with the fact:

Lewis had been talking about retiring BEFORE even facing Tyson.
Boxing is riddled with guys punch drunk who fought on too much.
Lewis made his millions, cash wasn't his driving force, that was hunger which he clearly didn't have after accomplishing what he always wanted, beat Mike Tyson.
It was a chance to go out like very few HW champions have, beating the No1 upcomming guy.

You accuse others of having no brain cells?

Does it even matter if he did? Lewis was well past his prime that much was obvious. He was past it. He fought a young up and comer, and like a great champion does he still found a way to win. But the fight probably did highlight to him, that with these young guys coming up that are only going to get better, and with him only getting worse, it was a good time to call it a day. That's just a sensible common sense decision. That's nothing for Vitali to boast about, that he lost a fight to an old man but did enough to convince the old man to retire. If he was anywhere near what a prime Lewis was he should of won the fight but his porus defence cost him and he got busted up.
