probably the last great heavyweight fight for a while.

it is hard not to like k2, it is a shame they dont have a big enough international fanbase. it is a shame they are in this time, it is a shame their next opponents arent in the top 20 of the world.

lewis-vitali will always be debated. but we have only one fact. lewis stopped him. its that simple, we can speculate all we like but he got the deserved victory.

lewis was on the decline, only a fool would have carried on for much longer, see rjj and ali and leonard for proof of that.

Vitali did retire Lennox, and he have all the right in the world to keep saying this. Any fighter would be frustrated as hell if he never got the chance avenge that kind of "loss"! Lennox made a ***** move by retire instead of accepting a rematch. And this is coming from a Lennox fan.

it was gonna be a nice little canada vs former canada fight....johnson had a punchers chance....he was undefeated and lewis had pretty much run out of guys to fight..just because it looked good on paper and interesting story line....
look what vitali did after his loss to Lewis
look what lewis did after his loss to rahman and mccall
look what tyson did after his lost to douglas
look what foreman did to his loss after ali
look what wlad did after his lost to purit

kirk johnson...look what he did after his first loss...NOTHING....bum

What is the point? Both fighters looked totally exhausted and Vitali looked like a bloody messy too.

Actually Lewis beat Vitali by technical KO. So you can't say that Lewis got retired by Vitali.

It was a great effort by Vitali but at the end LL won by technical KO. There was no controvery, the cuts was caused by punches of Lennox Lewis and the fight was pretty much even on the cards so it was not like Vitali dominated the fight prior to the stoppage. I really believe that Vitali's effort against an old and somewhat out of shape Lewis (who prepared for Johnson) has become overrated over time.

i dont believe there is any controversy, but it wont stop it being debated.

it aint overrated, he went from being a guy with no heart, to a guy who was able to match the best in the world. he took the fight on two week notice. he fought his heart out and lost. brilliant effort. infact it is and most likely will be, his career defining fight.

    This is it exactly.

Although I do think age, experience and achievement were just as much (if not more) to blame for Lewis' retirement.
You wouldn't want to take on Klitschko if you're past your best and not enthusiastic, but prime for prime its Lewis all day long.

Its a slightly arrogant statement from Vitali considering he lost the fight. Surely you cant retire someone by losing to them?! Even if it's a brave loss!
A wise decision from Lewis and sour grapes from Vitali.
He had his chance and blew it.
