Lewis was headed there long before they met.

That's the thing constantly raised that makes me laugh. Two guys have beat the **** out of each, Vitaly is going around the ring like a loon (with butterfly stitches in...put in before the fight was stopped, so really, his corner had already pulled him out.. ;) ) and Lewis kind of goes, "yeah, Ok, rematch".

Big deal. That's like telling a girl you'll call them later....Anything to shut them up and get them out of your hair.

It's not like he backed out a signed contract or anything. (Hello Riddick..)

Yeah, those 3 are right. I'm not sure if Vitali sent Lewis into retirement, or Lewis realised he was now 38, and might have to do more than just roll up for some easy retirement money, sent him into retirement.

Lewis did **** everyone around at the end though.

Lets be real here......Lewis up till then had been fighting much smaller Heavyweights.

There is'nt any coincidence that as soon as two capable Heavyweights Lewis' size arrive on the Heavyweight scene, Lewis dissapears from the Heavyweight landscape.

Imo, had Vitali and Wlad not existed in the Heavyweight scene at the time, Lewis would have kept his career going till at least the age of 40.

The competition got tough with two Supersized Heavyweights, Lewis dropped out.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

Like who? Lewis was 6'5 for ****s sake, it's pretty hard to find guys bigger than you when you're that size. How many times has VITLAY or WALDO fought guys that are bigger than them?

That's that point shot to pieces, I think.

I just checked boxrec again, and it still suggests that old Lewis was better than prime VITLAY, and that's the way it'll look forever, despite all the Klit-ite whining. Lennox Lewis beat VITLAY, no rematch was necessary because Lewis was an ageing champion and beat the guy on his worst night.

..based on that theory, Lewis only lost to McCall and Rahman. Both smaller than him. So therefore he had a problem with little guys right?

Um, of course. Golota and Grant are hardly ****ing midgets either. Bruno? I think was a couple of inches shorter but heavier when they fought. Grant was overhyped, but he wasn't as bad as people make out now. Ask Adamek fans about how good Grant is/was ;)

divac's rational thinking appears to fly out of the window whenever Holyfield or Lewis are mentioned. Perhaps he's Zakmans brother...

If you take Divacs point, Vitaly has lost to the only guy that was even close to him sizewise that he's fought.

If you look back at fighters history, Ali was the bigger man in the ring about as often as Lewis was. But of course, that doesn't count right?

Lewis wasn't "shot" or "over the hill" when he got his ass whooped by Vitali.

Lewis was coming off the KO win over Tyson. In the Lewis/Tyson post fight interview Lewis said "I'm like fine wine, I get better with age".

In an interview right before the Vitali fight, Lewis said "I'm at the peak of my powers" He also said he wanted to keep fighting for a few more years.

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared him into retirement. That's a FACT.

George Foreman: "Vitali was winning the fight. Lewis got lucky, there has to be a rematch!"

Jim Lampley: "A lucky escape for Lewis who was clearly losing the fight"

Even Emanuel Steward was upset and pissed off at Lewis for blatantly ducking a Vitali rematch.

Lewis is scared to death of Vitali.

There aren't many FACTS in that at all.

What do you expect Lewis to say? That he's feeling old and has no motivation other than money?

You're a nutter if you take ANY fighters pre fight comments to be anything other than bull****. Tyson also said he was going to eat Lewis's children, so I guess we'll take that literally too.

    Here's a fact for you.

Vitali was battered to a pulp, required around 60 stitches and lost by TKO 6.

And seeing you're so keen on fighters quotes, heres one from Eastide boxing itself.

So, Vitali says it was a headbutt that opened the cut.

Told you all fighters were full of ****.

    Pick apart my rationale?

What big sized heavyweights with real skill did Lewis ever face!

In fact history will show that Vitali and Wlad were the best skilled Heavyweights around Lewis' size that were around at the time Lewis was.
........Lewis then decides to leave the Heavyweight scene just when a couple of skilled Heavyweights who could give him a run for his money had fully arrived on the scene.

Yes, Lewis was chased out by Vitali, and I'm talking about the same lame Lewis who threatened, or did he actually sew Mike Tyson for not signing for a rematch after he almost killed him.:patsch

Mike Tyson retired after being knocked out by Lewis, and Lewis then sews Tyson because he would'nt sign for a rematch.:-(

It is pathetic to see that Vitali's ***** is still hurting up to now.

He was lucky he fought Lewis at his worst shape ever. Still he got TKOed legitimately.

Deep inside I think Vitali was so relieved that the fight was stopped. His face is being torn to pieces. The last moments in the fight Vitali was holding mostly while Lewis was landing huge uppercuts after uppercuts.
