Vitali's chin isn't undentable, nobodies is.

Of course he has a chin advantage though, but Gomez's is solid and the Diaz fight is an unfair reflection of this, although to be fair he showed a decent chin by shipping all those right hands in a row and still being on his feet, though I'm sure people like link wouldn't pick up on this.

He has a power advantage because Gomez doesn't really have that much power. But Vitali's has arguably declined as his speed has.

Gomez is the quicker guy, has a slight reach advantage, he's a tricky southpaw and arguably more skilled. Vitali is very effective working behind the jab and straight right hand, but Gomez has the reach advantage which Vitali has used and relied on so much throughout his career, and in his comeback with Peter, and Gomez has probably a bit more variety and is more agile.

All I can say is it's going to be a good fight and a lot more competitive than most people think.

He was only still on his feet because he lay back on the ropes which prevented him from falling down, but he was totally out of it, his hands down his waist and not moving, head down and taking flush shots without showing any reaction just before the stoppage.

gomez lacks experience against worldclass opposition at hw though. he's had a so/so career over the last couple of years, no a-class opposition: mccall (2x), virchis, sam, bakhtov - that's about it. the rest is c and d class. he has not faced a fighter who of vitali's caliber yet and that could be a huge disadvantage for him.

Gomez looks to be solid. You have to figure that he weighs a little less than 230 without some of his clothes on.

So how good is Gomez? Before the Diaz fight there some background chatter on here that he would be a real threat at heavyweight. There were even plenty of rumors about his sparring sessions with the brothers. Then he seemed to lose his focus - there were a lot of drug and partying gossip - and then he got his ass kicked. Since then, he's been mostly forgotten. Does he have a real chance? How good is he? I only saw the Diaz fight and I can't imagine that says much about his skill.

I find it dubious that Gomez would weigh in with so many clothes. From the fotos it looks as though he has a bit of a gut. Not on James Toney's level (Toney's manboobs put him in a class by himself) but certainly not as fit as he should be.

I'm not writing Gomez off, but I tend to think Vitali will get the victory.

Vitali will knock Gomez out...and I mean a knockout, not a TKO.

Some good discussion in this thread.

I still say Vitali Klitschko will win the fight because he is too big, too stong, and has too good of a Chin for Gomez.

I don't understand why people think Gomez has a chance? From what I have seen of Gomez, he's not really that good. Maybe he was a long time ago, but in his fights with Virchis and old man McCall, he did not seem very good at all.

Gomez will either have to summon some heretofore unseen skills, or Vitali will have to slip u[. I don't think it's happening. Vitali will beat Gomez, The only question is will Vitali do it qucik or will he take his time?

Gomez is not the same fighter he was in 2003 when he fought Sanin Samil Sam. He weighed 213 for that fight. He was more mobile back then also. I think that is what people are going on. Gomez tired out after the 8th round in both the Virchis and McCall II fights.
