In general the Dnieper river divides Ukraine

Eastern Ukraine prefers to remain Little Russia
Western Ukraine want to integrate into Europe

It has a historic substrartum as the river acted as a corridor between populations as far as human history goes

Ok, so considering what you say above and also considering that the former President of the Ukraine was democratically elected - what in the hell happened?

I got a ban for discussing an upcoming celebrity boxing match.

    Expect a ban.

He was from Geographic Little Russia, but was a compromise for all Ukranians because he promised to improve ties with Europe

Instead he disappointed Western Ukraine by opening all the doors to Russia. Western Ukrainians are the majority, so they wanted their votes back

Obviously its really NATO vs Russia, but the majority is in Western Ukraine. So either the country gets split or they continue to live as a compromise nation...between Russia and Europe...because people in Eastern Ukraine are diff in many ways, they speak Russian had a diff history and always had strong ties to Russia

    I see.

    So what happens now?

Supposedly they're going to have elections in May. I don't know how politics in the Ukraine work but I'd guess that the result of any election in May will put radical pro-Western politicians in office. I'm sure the Little Russians will be left feeling plenty butt-hurt...

He was democratically brought down, after most of the people got fed up with his lies and his cronyism. Many Ukrainians still remember the famine brought to fertile Ukraine by then Soviets in Moskow and the millions who died from starvation or in the GULAG and KGB prisons. When they figured out that Janukovich was lying to them and trying to hand the country over to Putin, they revolted. Simple.

With their main man exposed, the Ukraine public will vote +60% to whoever promises them better ties with Europe.

It will be very hard for Russia to take over all Ukraine again, they will remain to use East Ukraine Pro-Russians to destabilize Ukraine as a punishment. Azerbaijan, Syria & Georgia will also be other places where they will try to get even

Gotta say, so far in the thread, this is the most insightful post.
The Ukraine is known for being controlled by the criminal element for quite some time.
