No, I'll let someone else open up that can of worms again at a later date, I don't think I could handle all the conspiracy theories again for at least 10 years or so WALDOS dance was good, but I think VITLAYS was even better, I never knew cyborgs even had a reverse gear, let alone superchargers
I don't think so. I don't think that Roy was weight drained, honestly. Byrd had been fighting at Heavyweight since around his 3rd pro fight. Byrd is honestly a heavyweight, just a small one. I am sure that he can make the Cruiser limit comfortably now that it's 200. Back when it was 190 I don't think that he would have been comfortable fighting there either. I witness Byrd training with a solar suit on while he was fighting at heavyweight. That shows that he was actually trying to keep his weight down.... rather than bulk up. Byrd had fought as a heavyweight for 14 years, and that is a drastic difference than just popping up for one fight. Now... on to Roy. Roy only weighed 193 vs Ruiz. He ended up 186 on fight night vs Tarver. That is only 7 pounds difference. The rest is just water weight that he drained off and then gained back when he rehydrated. He also had 8 months to do it. Having a lot of experience in cutting weight, that wasn't a big deal. By the 2nd fight Roy was comfortably within the 175 limit anyways. Roy certainly isn't a natural heavyweight or Cruiserweight. Roy isn't even a big light heavyweight. Roy can comfortably make Super Middleweight if he chose to. He weighed in under 170 for the Tito fight. Going up to Heavyweight for one fight and then going back down to his natural weight class wasn't a big deal. Especially when he only weighed 193 fighting at Heavyweight. Tarver cuts more weight than that for every fight. 3 weeks after the fight against Ruiz Roy was already saying in an interview that he was walking around at 186. Which is exactly what he weighed on fight night.
Same principle. They both fight at HW and then come down to fight at a lower weight with limited success.Roy got knocked out badly and lost 3 times when he came down.4 if you include Calzaghe. That may or may not be directly because of the weight that he lost. Byrd came down in weight and lost also.Probably would have been a better idea for him to have a fight at cruiser to bridge the gap if he were going to drop to 175. Good point Byrd was more accustomed to weighing 210+ because he weighed that for a longer period of time but the principle is roughly the same.
