I translated this interview I found on german website bild.de. Klitschko: A tendon is only slightly torn, but a nerve was affected. That's why I couldn't lift my arm, it didn't obey me". BILD: What was it like during the fight? Klitschko: I had two possibilities. Quitting like I did twelve years ago against Chris Byrd. The tendon was torn then, the pain unbearable. I lost my championship belt while being ahead on points. This time, I decided to choose possibility number two in Munich. BILD: Namely? Klitschko: To grit my teeth and go ahead. I'd rather have died than lose my title against that creep. BILD: You were slapped, your brother Wladimir was spat on by Chisora. What does one feel [in moments like that]? Klitschko: The same as everybody. I'm glad my brother stayed calm. He already clenched his fist. But everything would have ended in one giant chaos inside the ring. BILD: So the chaos then broke loose in the pressroom. Klitschko: David Haye and Dereck Chisora simply lost their nerves. BILD: So now there is no possibility of a fight against David Haye? Klitschko: I don't even know whether he really wants the fight. He declined our generous offer. BILD: When will you be able to return to the ring? Klitschko: After today's diagnosis it would even be possible to fight before the European Championship (Football) starts. But I have to talk to my trainer Fritz Sdunek first. BILD: What do your next days look like? Klitschko: I fly to Ukraine and do my political work. I have to spare my left arm and can't resume strength training before the next couple of weeks. "..Klitschko: To grit my teeth and go ahead. I'd rather have died than lose my title against that creep.."
Its interesting that Vitali thinks Haye might not want the fight, I am a Klitschko fan but Im actually starting to wonder if Vitali is being duped here a little by his manager. I think Haye really is doing what he can to make the fight.
That is the part that I noticed, too. Chisora has made quite a name for himself, hasn't he? Spitting water in someone's face whom you are not even fighting. Class. Pure class.
Good on Vitali for gritting his teeth and fighting on, against a guy who was giving him some tough moments as well.
I think vitalis being played abit by his manager, in the press room after the fight, haye clearly stated he had agreed, and vitalis manager simply replied, you only showed us your toe? Haye is dying for this fight, vitali is stupid for saying hes not. Full respect to vitali for fighting on though, credit to him and wlad for keeping calm and getting on with the fight.
Ex-world champion in two weight classes, David Haye, who was present at the fight WBC champion Vitali Klitschko with Derek Chisora, used the opportunity to convince the RTL television that he - the best candidate for the next fight Klitschko. Haye is convinced that the whole world wants to see the fight Vitali Klitschko and David Haye and outraged that the list of possible contenders appear Hasim Rahman and Alexander Dimitrenko - in his opinion, "no one wants to watch this." According to David, he agreed to the lowest fees in his career and took all the items of the contract, but was refused. Klitschko manager Bernd Boente said in an interview with RTL, that Haye would get a very high fixed amount plus 50% of sales events match (PPV) in the UK. Team Klitschko Haye made a counter offer: two million pounds sterling and 50% PPV in the case, David has successfully raskrutit fight in the UK and the number of sales reached a certain point. David Haye on the proposal was not accepted. Source: allboxing.ru
Just read another interview on bild.de. It says that Vitali wants another match against Chisora to knock him out. Boente doesn't want to give Chisora another chance. I'll translate it later.
You know, Brother Kirk, I've always thought with fighters, trainers, promoters, managers, agents, lawyers, TV execs, sanctioning body presidents, and whoever the hell else, that it's all a convoluted game of telephone every time a big fight is about to be made. :-( That's why I rarely sling the ducking **** around. Because I know I couldn't possibly have a thorough grasp on all the relationships and motives with every single person that must be involved in these matters to a significant degree.
